Take 60 seconds to send a letter to Congress on the Bono Wil
Posted: November 13th, 2007, 7:47 amAs you may know, next Tuesday, November 13th, there will be a hearing in Washington, DC by the House Natural Resources Committee on Representative Mary Bono's wilderness bill, the California Desert and Mountain Protection Act (H.R. 3682). This bill proposes to designate lands in Riverside County, CA as wilderness and also proposes rivers in that county to be designated as wild, scenic or recreational.
Many of us are very concerned about creating additional wilderness in California and believe that this bill, if passed, would unduly restrict public access and recreation in this area. We also believe that the numerous wilderness additions and proposed designations contained within the legislation need to be fully evaluated and vetted with the local public and interested citizens.
H.R. 3682 is supported by the following groups:

-California Wilderness Coalition
-Sierra Club
-Friends of the River
-Friends of the Desert Mountains
-National Parks Conservation Association
-Campaign for America's Wilderness
