Well... not exactly, but for one year, while they study the area, pretty much everything but the main trail will be off limits.

Sad news!

See the judges ruling in post #276 on the Pirate thread. The Rubicon trail WILL BE OPEN. It is one of the only trails in the whole El Dorado Forest that will be open. So no closure of the Rubicon, but everything else is closed (they fear permanently).

This is why I am disappointed with Cal4wheel and CORVA; These guys try to play nice and compromise. They really believe that the Sierra Club cares about the environment and responsible use of it. Of course we know they do not, and that they will except nothing short of closures to prevent the "great unwashed" from using "their land". This is the elitist attitude that accompanies a mental disorder known as liberalism. They can care less that we clean and maintain the trails, plant trees, and prevent erosion that would naturally occur anyway. Their goal is control, and nothing short of that will ever do.

Cal4wheel didn't even notify membership of what was happening until after the damage was done - and this isn't the first time it has happened like this.

I will still be a member of cal4wheel, but will no longer donate thousands of $ to them like I did in the past. I don't want my money to go to "forest clean-up days", town hall meetings, or to grease the greedy hands of politicians. Our battles can not be won by playing nice or by taking the issue to political representatives. We need to take a lesson from the gun groups; stop compromising and put all of our funding into litigation, CONSTANT and RELENTLESS litigation. CalGuns has a team of lawyers working full-time and look at the changes in gun ownership opportunities we have experienced in the last few years - and they have many more cases going to SCOTUS! If we pull together our resources we can outspend the antis and scare the crap out of government agencies that would oppose us. Sadly, this is how the off-road lobby is being beaten and our off-road groups fail to realize that we can do the same thing on a much larger scale. I wish an off-road group existed that was organized like this.

But the good news is that the Rubicon is not closed.....yet

Yep... trail is open, as I pointed out in the first post. But, as you said, this is just a step in wrong direction. They are not done, nor will they be until they have secured OUR forest from US.

Yes I saw that the actual "rubicon trail" is open but the other trails are all part of the eldorado trail system and as DD pointed out they will probally be closed for ever. This is why im pist. Also to go with what DD said I donated a shit ton of money to Blue Ribion in 2008 for the lawsuit. Im glad to see that money did some good. It pisses me off that these people think/are/trying to control all of the things that happen naturally like eroition. Im still looking for a sierra club member here. I dont think Im gonna find one here though. :furious:

I'm fairly sure you just need to go to the geology department at CSUB to find some of those. They always gave me a sour attitude when I spoke of off roading.
