Infectious Off-Road.com

It was one of those days where many started, but few finished. Even though there was a steady snowfall the whole day, this was more of an ice run than a snow run. There was about 6" of powder snow on the ground, but underneath it was several inches of ice, which made the trail very slippery. A couple of XJs went down, a sami rolled, Harry laid his rig down in a rut, a CJ lost its driveline, and a TJ got towed out dead. Lots of folks sliding off the trail added an element of danger to the mix. Overall, a great time .

Now for the BAD NEWS;
GATEKEEPER and most of the obstacles up to the sign at Black Rock ARE GONE!!!!! Our friends at the Forest Service decided to take a dozer up there and made our beloved trail a fire road . I wonder if they consulted the Trailblazers about this.

On the blacktop is a done deal . I think the Sami is going to get trail fail of the month for November.

Thanks for always taking the time to post up the videos. I really wanted to go but couldn't make it today. Since, it was so icy maybe today wasn't the best day for a first run anyway. I'm looking forward to the other pics and videos.

It sucks about gatekeeper. It didn't look like a smooth road though. I so wish I could have been there, looked like a lot of fun! Also looked to be slicker than snot! Great video, thanks for posting it!

I had fun on this run, conditions were very challenging!!
This run shows all the new guys, if you want to go on a run, post up and people will show, Infectious has people wanting to go on runs all the time, and if someone breaks down there are always people willing to stick around and help out
Hopefully the next snow run we will be able to get a little bit higher, to the fun stuff since the road formaly known as GATEKEEPER is FUBAR!!!

Just got back home at 1130.....man that was an interesting drive through the canyon with no power steering and barely any brakes.

Thanks for all the help you guys....we wouldnt have been able to do it without you....but yeah hopefully well get it running soon so that we can go wheeling again.

ok, Now that was a lot of fun... So i am now a new owner of a suzuki samurai. LOL you break it you buy it... So it is going to be sitting in my garage this week and I will be doing some work to it. Don't worry I'll be on that motor so you guys dont breathe that damn smoke anymore. Thanks for all of your guys' help.

Your Dad pulled it down the canyon?!! and you don't even have an e-brake right? Should have given me a call, I have a car trailer I could have brought up! Yall are crazy for doing that at night up there, and lucky.

Richard, any word from the Trailblazers as to why the Forestry Service filled in / graded Freeway Ridge?

I am really sad to hear about Gatekeeper! I wonder how they got the ok to do that? They are always complaining about us ruining the area and causing ruts...so why remove rocks that will prevent ruts and keep more people out?!?!?!?!
