GORMAN June 20th 2015 run

Postby 81BigBrett » June 22nd, 2015, 7:16 am

Well it was a hot and dusty day but was still fun. :wings: We had a total of 4 jeeps show up all from the Oxnard area, although there were a lot more people meeting at the Flying J when we got there. I tried to recruit some but they weren't down with the angry blueberry. I guess they were turned of that I towed my jeep up and they drove theirs. They looked pretty green anyway. Once at Gorman we went to our usual spot by the 4x4 park and unloaded, we played for awhile at the park then set out for a run towards Henry's Crack in the river bed. This is where our first problem arose. The camo Cherokee had some issues staying running. It would get hot on a tighter slow moving trail and then die, we wait 30 minutes and it stars fine and runs for ten, then dies. So he took it back to the trailer and rode with Brandon in the JK. Henry's crack was easier to negotiate this time around from the last time at the ball and chain run. After that we tore off to go to the blueberry crack. The blueberry crack remains unfinished and has claimed 2 more jeeps. :thefinger: The angry blueberry was about 100 feet from the turn in the crack when she flopped against the side, and since I don't have lockers I had to be winched out. This is where Brandon decided to bail as well, mainly it was just to hot to be digging jeeps out all day. So after a tug from Brandon, we managed to back out to a easier exit point and headed up another trail head to have lunch in the shade. After lunch we headed back to the 4x4 park to mess around a bit more. This is also where I decided to drive the Angry Blueberry into the sluice box and get high centered. Another tug from Brandon and it was time to head home.

pics to follow report.!!!!

I usually stick to the High Sierras or Pismo for my summer wheeling :dig: . Hungry Valley is just as hot as Bakersfield in the summer. BC109 was probably only in the 90s, so it wouldn't have been too bad. Yall should have rolled up the coast and wheeled with us.

I would have, but it was kind of a last minute plan, and since it was closer it worked out. plus needed some rocks to test out my rocker guard.
