we had 14 rigs show up with lots of participants for a fun day of wheeling and exploring in the El Paso Mountains.

The mix of rigs was pretty amazing; Jeeps, Toys, rock buggy, and several RZRs.

We started the day running up last chance canyon. We went to Bickel camp, but turned around after seeing a crowd of about 50 tourists there. We then headed for the Burro Schmidt Tunnel, and played around there (in typical IOR style) for a long time. The group then split up; half of us went to sheep springs / Mesquite Canyon, and the other half of the group went to explore the Old Dutch Cleanser mine.

The weather was perfect and in the 70s.

Trail carnage: I got a big sidewall gash on a Mongrel for my RZR. Floppy lost some lug nuts. John had all kinds of problems = 2 broken axles, Popped bead, body damage, damaged door, and broken tail light.

Man, wish I could have made it.

On a side note I took a drive with my old man to Sunny Jerome Arizona and we picked up a beautiful 1969 Bronco project. It came with a freshly rebuilt 4BT cummins motor. :Thumb:

Keep an eye out for its build thread.

Hell yaz! :yup:

If you decide against the diesel in the Bronco, I have a fresh 302 with cam and Edelbrock parts from a 70 mustang I can give you the deal of a lifetime on.

So, is that what the lower end of Last Chance looks like now?
Last time I was through it was sometime back in the late 70's,
and it wasn't anywhere near that bad. Most of the way through there was
something that at least vaguely resembled a road.

No.....its still a pretty easy road. Those pictures were taken on some of the optional lines you can take in the canyon. Every one of them can by easily bypassed.

Was wondering. Ya never know out there, one good thunder storm and a place isn't recognizable.
