Freeway Ridge 4/25/10

If you went on a run this is where to brag about it!

Freeway Ridge 4/25/10

Postby Desert Dog » April 26th, 2010, 6:54 am

We went for a quick Sunday run up Freeway Ridge today with 3 Jeeps, and had a fourth jeep join us at the beginning of the trail. The weather was perfect. Gatekeeper has changed a bit, as someone has dug out one of the big rocks and rolled it down the trail 20 feet. This left a big hole behind another boulder that traps your driver's front tire. So we have to take a different line than what we are used to through gatekeeper. No problemo. There were many motorcycles on the trail having a good time. We also picked up lots of chatter on the radio from the Trailblazers, who sounded like they were up on Borderline pulling out a stuck Dodge. My TJ started sputtering and gave me a check engine light as we got to the top of Freeway Ridge, turned out to be a bad O2 sensor. To be on the safe side, we cut the trip short and wheeled out the Black Gulch trail to Keyesville. Had the best Pizza I have had in a long time at Lake Isabella, I highly recommend the Chicken Alfredo pizza. Click the link for vid.

HAAAA :lol3: That explains it. The loss of that one rock made it a completely different obstacle. Larry and I were like, "where did that hole come from?"

I saw some of the pics you took on Sunday and heard you guys on the radio up on Borderline. Man, you have the best flex out of ANY leaf sprung CJ I have ever seen. Very nice Jeep! :beermug:

You should do Calico with us in a couple weeks, before you give your Jeep some downtime.

Im in the same boat;

weak box -vs- D60 & 37s = "I'm only turning while the Jeeps moving" :suprise:

I'm going to address mine after Calico, and be ready in time for the Rubicon. I'm taking a hard look at the West Texas Off-road "redneck ram". Pretty good price and people seem to like them.

Im going to do it this weekend, looks like no rain in the forecast. I have to remove my skids to get to the one on the cat - god I hope they did'nt weld it on there like some exhaust shops do! Im also going to put a 1" spacer in the rear to compensate for the sag in those cheap-ass springs.

I also found that my Currie antirock was binding up on my Currie bumper and preventing the axle from moving down :lol3: . Time to release the sawzall!

I should have mine in (RNR)... in time for Calico. If you promise to put away your seat stick, I might let you look.
