Rigid 10" LED light review

Well, I was looking for a set of HID floods to put on my bumper so I can have low amp-draw lighting during tough night winching (those 130W KCs can be brutal on the battery while winching, and the long-range beams are of little help while rigging recovery gear at night). I did the typical internet forum research and even went to Youtube to view videos of some of the HID lights in use. I even had a few buddies show me their HID lights.

When I went down to see Alex & Frank and to look at / price some HID kits, they kept trying to convince me to take a serious look at the LEDs. This turned out to be great advice. They recommended the Rigid lights.

While on Youtube, I saw the videos of the Rigid Industries LED light bars being shot with 12g buckshot, an AR15, and a 9mm pistol. Then saw the video of these lights submerged in water for an hour, beat with a 2x4, beat with a golf club, ran over, thrown, and dragged behind a speeding Jeep for miles. OK, that got my attention. My front bumper hoop has taken a couple of big hits, and I was worried about putting those expensive HIDs up there.

Upon doing further research, I found that these LED light bars give HID-like illumination with less amp draw, Last 50,000 hours vs. 2,000 hours for HIDs, require no ballasts, are many times more durable, and are not very expensive compared to HIDs.

I ended up getting the Rigid 10” LED bar in the “flood” pattern for under $340. I mainly went with the 10” because it mounts perfectly between the light tabs on my Pure Jeep bumper hoop. Rigid gives a full schematic of all their lights on their website so you can figure mounting options.

The light arrived from their Arizona facility in 3 days! This kit comes complete with everything you need to install. The wiring harness that these lights come with is the cleanest and most complete I have ever seen for lights. I actually installed everything (even the switch) in just over ½ hour and everything worked perfect on the first try.

I really like the wide pattern and amount of bright white light that totally eliminates shadow.

My ShittyBuilt bumper finally died (cracked in 2 places) while Abendx and I were playing around at BC109 a couple weeks ago. And that stupid over-sized bottom skid was hitting on everything and limiting my approach angle.

I got the PJ Bare Bonez bumper; basically just a winch plate with a small hoop. It is the smallest bumper you can get , but holds a winch, has 2 clevis attachments, a hoop, and light tabs. I love it so far. Its actually cheaper than a Smitty bumper, but 100 times better quality. It is the same bumper that Curt has on his JK.

My favorite aspect of the bumper though; is that it holds My Rigid LED bar perfectly .

IMO, this is the perfect off-road light for the type of wheeling I do. I have found long range/spot/projection/pencil beam patterns are absolutely useless for rock crawling and recovery and can't even be used when running with a group (which is 95% of the time). This LED light brings daylight to the rocks in front without blinding the vehicle in front of you - so is GTG with group runs. It is also excellent for driving on those dark country roads used in place of the high beams, and goes on and off in a slit second (unlike HIDs which need to warm up for a few seconds). I made it a point on this build not to go overboard with lights that I will never use, and I think this light fits that plan perfectly.

I went overboard, I had to fill all the light mounts on the JEEP. Once the 52" LED bars go down in price to around 1000 or less then ill jump on one. Looks good.

those are some bada$$ lights! I have seen a lot of the LED's that are 40+ inches long and they look amazing. This is the first time Ive seen the shorter version in use and Im really diggin it. I just ordered some Light Force 240s to go with my driving lights (JK's stockers suck) and those floods would work perfect to fill in all the gaps. I will have to keep an eye on that one, price isnt insane either compared to even some halogen lights on the market...

Chris's 12 inch led light sold me the night run on freeway ridge. So if a 12 inch light that good a 52 even better. got my custom light rack rhino lined and mounted , will mount 52 inch bar this weekend. . big thumbs to chris on find

I wheel almost every weekend, and since I installed this light, it has taken some big hits on branches and doesnt even have a scratch. These are 100 times tougher than HIDs or Halos IMO, so make a great choice for bumper mounted lights. Save those expensive HIDs for roof or windshield mounting.
