We have quite a few nicely built solid axle Toyota trucks in the club, and you will see some very well built classic FJ40s on the trail. We also have several Sammys in the club, and some crazy full-size guys.

Dale (awesomeFJ) has a built FJ cruiser with a D60 and all the bells and whistles. Its a very nice ride.

Even with the lack of articulation with the FJ cruisers, we do a lot of runs frequently on trails where your car will do fine. Your rig will have no problems on Freeway Ridge, Miller, Last Chance Canyon, Sherman, and a host of other local trails.

You see mostly Jeeps in off-road clubs because they take the least amount of effort to turn into a capable Rock Crawler. Don't let this detract you from joining an off-road club, as all 4x4s are welcome.

We have meet & greets the second Thursday of every month at Chuy's on Rosedale Hwy. Stop by and introduce yourself :beermug:

Nothing wrong with Toyota's, as long as you do enough work to make them like a Jeep.

j/k Welcome to IOR. Half the fun of wheeling with a good group is the scenery and challenge, and half is hanging with good people. It doesn't matter what you drive.

Those percentages are different for other people. I find it to be 80% people. 20% challenge, and these are the people that make me keep coming back for more.

Yeah.... I have to agree with Travis here. Even the guys with the Toys and that one guy with the Sammy are cool..... well, weird and cool. Why weird.... well, none of you own Jeeps!

I'll tell you a story.... make of it what you wish, but personally, I'd be out for either vengeance or a new rig.

Alex... one of our more mild members, went out with us on his first run. Basically stock Toy... after the run, we lost Alex for six or eight months and when he returned, he had a crawler.

It was put together nicely.... really nice. And it worked well.... yet he was still getting spanked by mildly built Jeeps, left and right.

Fast forward to a few weeks ago and Alex tells me in a text that he's selling his Toy. I was sad, I liked that rig and more important, I liked wheeling with Alex... would I ever see him again? Why was he selling... he just recently finished the rig and it worked well.

A few days later, I get another text from Alex, this one included a picture.... a picture of a brand new Jeep. What was this.... well, Alex lets me know, he sold the Toy for a Jeep.

I am scratching my head at this point, Alex was a Yota guy. Always shit taking Jeeps and how much more capable the Toy was. How this and that was better in a Toy. How Jeeps were a status thing?

Fast forward to last weekend and I find Alex riding bitch in my heep. The entire time he's talking mad shit on Toys and telling me how superior Jeeps were.

Basically.... what we have here is the Benedict Arnold of the Toyota world.

Now.... Yota guys, you have a problem. I understand that you want to do very bad things to this turncoat.... I'd want to kick him in the nuts if I were in your position. But you have a problem.... he's now associated himself with the Jeepers and there are a lot more of us. So you're fucked. Sit in a corner and be quiet while you too.... contemplate getting a Jeep .

For the record, I have a Jeep too :suprise: :suprise: lmao (bone stock YJ 4.0 auto with 220k+ miles on the clock and runs like a champ) but I come from the Chevy side of wheeling and absolutely love my Toyota.. I was going to build my Jeep but I'd have to upgrade axles and regear and tires and front and rear bumpers and most of all.... A SOFT TOP (I rock a bimini year round :dontknow: ) my Toy suits me for now and I will some day build the Jeep up for my gf wheel.

PS did I mention how much I love my Toy??

The club is full of shit talkers.... as is the off-roading world in general. This is generally a male sport with plenty of testosterone. Most of the women I have seen wheeling, can hang with these boys and likely put a few under as well. You have to have a thick skin, especially if you stick around for the after wheeling events.

Seeing we are all good friends here, the level of shit talk goes up considerably. What you should take from this is that we are all good friends and want to include you in that, but you gotta be able to deal with the fun we have with one another.

Welcome to our club! :salute:

P.S. I know... you are right, the sig does suit. It was given to me by Nom-nom, but I can't take complete credit for the name.... she did say we were all assholes (even GJ!?!?)! And yes... it somewhat bums me out that I am not special when it comes to this. :moon:

P.P.S. Jeep still spank Toyota's butt.... ask Alex. :lol3:

There is no animosity between our jeep owners and toy owners its just fun to poke fun...

we all enjoy wheeling and thats what brings us together, heck when i started running trails with a couple toyota guys they were impressed that a jeep could keep up and do what it did.

It all depends on who you decide to be associated with and the collective expe
rience of the group...

Infectious as a whole will not lead or leave members astray, our goal is to hae a good time and ensure those with us do as well

welcome to the group

I had a 92 4Runner. It was still IFS, but I had no problem getting through Henry's Crack, (except that damned last hill, but most without any lockers have trouble there). I liked it quite a bit, even made a home-made snorkel for it after it tried to snort water up on Rancheria on one of our pitiful 2011/2012 snow runs. Aside from having little power with the 3.0L, it was a good rig. It gave use reliable heat, had decent ground clearance once I took the rear bumper and tow hitch off, and rode decent. The windshield wiper rods are known to be junk on those, and the rear window motors and switches go out, but its 20 years old, I don't expect it to have zero problems. I ran it with a 2" lift and plenty of trimming on the front. I ran 33's and some 35x14.50 boggers on it for a bit.

If it had a straight axle swap, some lower gears and a more patient owner, that thing would have been killer, and probably about the same price as a comparable Jeep.

Here's a few pics.

Alex? Ask him again once he's built his JK. He's is comparing for you a built Toy truggy to a stock JK. Alex's truggy was hot, but he didn't go anywhere a JK couldn't.

Of course it is more expensive to build a JK vs a Toy... the JKs are new and the Toys are usually, 20+ years old. That makes a huge difference in aftermarket parts and availability of things.... plus, with such an old vehicle, it isn't hard to lop shit off and weld shit up.... hurts a quite but more on a new vehicle.

I think I've said it before.... I am a Jeep guy, but as long as you wheel, you are my kind of guy. Wheel like Josh, and you can take a spot in my wet dreams.
