Whats Crackin!!!

Postby ScottyMaxx » October 2nd, 2012, 10:33 pm

Well Im Scotty, im 37 from Bakersfield Ca. and just now getting into Jeeps!! Ive ridden dirt bikes all my life and have ridden all over the dez and mountains in Ca, so i know most of the territory where everyone wheels. I know a few people on here and im Mikeys older brother. IDK what his name is on here. Also Met some people at the 4Wheels Parts deal at Hungry Valley on Sunday as well. I recently bought a 2000 TJ. 4.0 auto trans, D44 in the rear. I already ordered an IRO 4" Ultimate short arm kit. 5125 Bilstien shocks, Mega short SYE and a 1" motor mount lift. Once its in ill order the drive shaft and go down and get the 33x12.50x15 BFG KM2's. Then just need to build some armor, bumpers, rear rack and such. I Might pick up the RE 4100 & 4102 extreme duty long arm conversion cross member pan tomorrow. Well thats about it for the Jeep. Looking forward to meeting more people and getting out there and wheeling with you all!!!

Welcome :beermug:

Sounds like a good build plan for your Jeep. You scored with the auto trans and D44!

Welcome! with that much lift you could easily do 35's. Don't forget to regear also. That's something commonly overlooked.

Haha ... Took me a lil bit but I made it!!! The Tj wasn't my original plan. I was actually gonna do a Cherokee like u and Mikey or what I really wanted to do was a 2000-2004 grand Cherokee. But I got a great deal on this TJ and here we are!!! Should be lifted in a couple weeks. My only concern is digging into the TC for the SYE. But I think I'll be ok. Looking forward to wheeling, camping and hanging out with u all!!!

You doing a hack and tap or full sye? I have a nice tool made by my ex father in law for a hack and tap and would lend a hand if you needed it. But as for a full sye i have never done one before lol

I haven't put in an dye but I've torn down a t-case 3 or 4 times. It's not bad. Just take your time and buy snap ring pliers

I bought the full sye. The Mega short they sale so it's 3" shorter too to help with the angle. I'm pretty mechanically inclined, so are my Brother Mikey and our father so we should get it figured out. Anyone is welcome to come by when we do it if they wanna help or learn with us.

I'm sure y'all can figure it out. Look for an exploded diagram online. That helped me a lot.

Welcome to IOR and to 4wheeling. As we get older it's nice to have some body panels around us.

You won't have trouble with the SYE. The two things to watch for are to pay attention to which way the large shift collar faces when you take it out (so it goes back in right), and to make sure the oil pump is located correctly on the output shaft when you put the tail shaft cone on. other than that it's pretty straightforward.

Swing by the shop and talk or ask questions anytime. We can also get parts for you. :Thumb:

I'm hoping to have it lifted, guards and bumpers done in the next couple weeks. And seriously considering 35's instead of 33's the more I read and learn!!!

If you decide on the 35's, you'll definitely want chromo axle shafts for the front. Personally, I wouldn't wheel on 33's without chromo shafts in the front, but you can do it if you're careful.
