Trails will close for the season before you know it. Get your cold gear out, put your big boy pants on and lets go wheeling. :kungfu:

Dusy from Kaiser to Ershim Lake was my first choice, but others want to do Coyote.
Get a hold of The Hill Hoppers in Fresno for Dusy, they are in charge of closing it down and I've tagged along in the past. I can probably get you in touch with one of the members if you are serious.

Dusy is much longer and maybe a little tougher. It is completely doable, but you move slower on day one and three. The weather plays into the equation in Oct. Rain or snow happen or you'll wake up in the morning with frost on your sleeping bag even though you're in a tent.
That being said, if you want to do Dusy you should. Go prepared, don't go alone and post up pictures for the people who web wheel. There isn't anywhere better for the scenery. More people will go to the Show and Shine the weekend before at the school, but who will talk about that 10 years later.

And yes we are spending the night at Coyote.

Post some pics, maybe that will get some interest. Coyote is a fun trail and everything in the Sierras other than Bald Mountain will be closed at the end of the month. :banghead:

Well....we got back last Saturday night....spent 6 days there camping/fishing/drinking/BBQing. Had a great time but it was COLD at night. Got down into the upper 'teens... At the time we left, campfires were still PROHIBITED. Check on this before you go!!! If it rains this week you may be ok. Look for snow on the trail though.

Fishing was slower than usual but we still caught a lot..several big rainbows, adult Brookies, and large German Browns. We used Chartruse and orange Powerbait and 1 oz Panther Martin gold/black/red dot lures.

I'd advise taking a heater and plenty of propane if you're gonna be there overnight or for a few days. The Mr. Heater Big Buddy 18000 BTU is awesome!!!

Only breakage was a friends basically stock Tacoma...he caved in both sides of the bed, broe the front diff, and if not for some stout rockers, he'd never be able to open the doors again.

Pics to follow...

Already pulled out both heaters. The Clovis Independent club is planning to be there also so it should be pretty lively. They organize Moonlight Madness each year on Bald Mtn.
