It would be nice to leave earlier if driving over Sat morning. Sounds like a pretty big group, and the earlier the better for a trail start time. I can show you all the way we run Doran Canyon, quite a few places to play on and we can spend all day. We can hit another short but fun canyon at the end of the day that is over past the top of Odessa, and if there's time and some folks want to I can show you Scrambler Canyon. As far as I know, only the Trailblazers have ever run Scrambler Canyon, we've been runnning it the last two years and it's decently hardcore.

If others are going to be camping there Fri night, they might want to start the trail before 10:30. I'll be ready to leave at 6:00. I'll be driving over Sat just for the day, but I can drive home late.

Okay.... Randy and I are both down for sure (no more 99% crap).

What is the plan for Saturday morning? Obviously neither of us are coming to Bakersfield to meet up with the group.... so a meeting place closer to the trail head? Also... what time?

Depending on how things go.... I might camp Saturday night (50/50 right now). Is anyone else planning on doing this as well?

I still have the camper on the truck, so rather than pull it off I'll just go over Fri evening and spend the night. I'll need the camper for the next weekend out at Lucerne anyway. So, if anyone else is going over Fri night let me know where you'll be camping. I'll most likely just camp in Odessa canyon before the turn off to Doran, unless some folks will be camping in Mule Canyon.

For those leaving on Saturday;

The whole group should meet at the corner of Calico Road and the Doran Scenic Drive post at about 8:30-9:00am. We will be monitoring channel 4.

For those Leaving Bako on Saturday, we should meet at the Shell at Hwy 58 and Weedpatch at 5:45AM and plan on leaving by 6:00.

I like camping in the Doran/Odessa area better than Mule Canyon. There are usualy lots of quads and cycles in Mule canyon and it can get pretty loud and dusty.

Bigdogg, Ill be camping there on saturday night too. We should do a night run up the Doran waterfall and back - its a blast in there at night.
You got the Redneckram installed already? Whats the verdict?
Well.... not yet. My tie rod was so tacoed, there wasn't enough clearance to mount the ram. UPS showed up 20 minutes ago with my new tie rod from Poly.... which took 6+ weeks to get. :banghead: I will get that on tonight or tomorrow and then plumb the cooler to be ready for the final couple of steps (measuring the ram and welding the mounting tabs), which Randy has agreed to assist on (Sorry Chris, I lead him to believe that you'd give him a little something special on Saturday night in the campsite to obtain his welding expertise... so do me right, by doing him right :thefinger:).

I am pretty sure I am not going to be 100% happy with it right off the bat.... my assumption is that I am going to need to upgrade the pump and maybe increase the system volume before it will run smoothly, but we'll see. It should be running for you to fondle on Saturday.

Now Randy decided, after I went with the RNR, to go PSC.... so you'll get to see both in action. His is clearly prettier (PSC has a way better sticker and uses shiny paint), but I am not sure there is much of a difference past that. :drinks:

I am 50/50 because Randy's wife is throwing him a little party this coming weekend. She is not exactly sure if it will be Saturday or Sunday night.... so my camping plans will follow her decision. Randy will probably not camp unless I can convince him otherwise.

Wheeling plans for Sunday?
Sorry Chris, I lead him to believe that you'd give him a little something special on Saturday night in the campsite to obtain his welding expertise... so do me right, by doing him right
The only thing I promised Randy was that I would get you liquored-up on Saturday night so you would reenact your part in the new JKF feature film "Broke-Back Jeep Trail". Remember, we are from Bakersfield, and you do have a pretty mouth.
I am 50/50
We know, we accept you, please move on. :lol3:

Does the PSC kit come with a new pump, cooler, reservoir, etc. If so, the price difference may not be so much. I really want to see how well the RNR steers while at idle RPMs. Regardless, it has to be better than relying on the stock box.

See you Sat morning.
