I really want to do a run this Sunday but I don't think I can get up there from the O.C. early enough. Maybe I'll drive up Saturday night and crash at Mike's house. Otherwise, I'm going to hit Big Bear on Sunday morning.

You'll have to plan a run around your area jeeplj so we can come to your area sometime. Maybe we could try Miller jeep trail somtime too. That would be a little closer for you also.Hope you can make it tomorrow. Ed

I'm out for tomorrow. Actually, not out, but I'm going to run John Bull or something with my dad and his buddy. This will be the last run for me before the Rubicon so hopefully if something is ready to break, it will break tomorrow.

Have fun on your run tomorrow. Be safe. Se you on the 25th!

Yes, an awesome time! We should put together a Miller Lockwood run. I got word that the forest rangers are thinking about closing down the trail due to the extreme fire danger in the next two weeks.

Lockwood/Miller is a dusty moon scape-waste land.
I'd say 75% of the trail is totally burned from the Day Fire. The fire line they stopped it at is mostly Piru Creek, with a few green pockets here and there. It's really sad with no shade from all the burnt toothpicks that once were trees. Many places the trail was the fire line, with everything to the south of the trail toasted for as far as you can see, yet green up to the north edge. The biggest problem is all the dead trees marked for removel before they fall and block the trail. The Sunset Camp has a few green trees but it burned right up to the picnic table. Dutchman Camp at the top is all burned with the biggest trees to be removed (did I ever tell you all about the dead tree that fell on my jeep on the Keyesville/Blackgulch trail?) We need some rain to start some growth on the scorched earth left by the fire.

Didn't meen to talk you out of it, just a heads up on what to expect.
There are some places it's kind of neat you can see on either side of the trail and into side gullies and canyons thet were blocked from view all these years, and you go, wow, I didn't know that was there.
If the trail gets closed, it will be for dead tree removal, there's not much left to burn.
I remember the first time back up the Sherman 4x4 trail after the McNally Fire, that was sad too.
