Armed Forces Day Run at Calico (2nd Annual) -- MAY 21/22
Last year's event was lots of fun and talking to Harry the other day.... we need to make this an annual run as well.
So here it is boys and girls. The Infectious Off Road 2nd Annual Armed Forces Day Run, BBQ, and camp out at Calico.
RIG REQUIREMENTS
Most of the area can be done in a stock vehicle with a little help.... okay, maybe more than a little, but ask Victor, it can be done. There are areas that we will hit that are difficult, to suit the more adventuresome in the club. We will be doing two separate runs... one for the seniors and one for the kiddies. While the old folks take it easy and insure no brittle bones crack, those young whipper snappers will have fun breaking shit.
CAMPING
Camping is optional but overnight temps should be very nice in the desert at this time of year. If you want to get in early to setup camp, dump your trailer, have breakfast, whatever... please do so, but make sure that you are ready to roll on the trail by 0900 at from the meeting spot. If you do get in early to find a spot, please make sure it is a large area to accommodate all of us going and those maybe going.
MEETING LOCATION
Meetup at 0900 at the area entrance. This will be in Barstow, at the intersection of Ghost Town Road and Doran Scenic Drive (for the nerds with GPS, 34.9417, -116.8583). This is just past the entrance to the Ghost town itself.
For those coming from Bakersfield, DD had posted the following:
We usually meet at Weedpatch and 58 at 6:00, try to leave before 6:30. Top off gas and use the bathroom in Yermo, and be off the pavement in Calico just before 9:00
For those coming from LA/OC/VTA:
Meetup location not yet determined. If nothing changes here, then the meetup spot will be the trail head, next to the ghost town.
