Ridgecrest Area URF trip

How about a day trip to Ridgecrest later in Feb? This would be a rockcrawling trip, but full body friendly, well, you know, sort of full body friendly, accidents can always happen. There would have to be a few equipment requirements for those who wanted to go. There are some pretty good trails out there, some buggy trails and some good rockcrawling trails.

It's about an hour and 50 min drive over there. Plan on being there by 8:00 am. We can hit the pizza joint in Ridgecrest for dinner before heading home. I'm thinking maybe the last Sat in Feb.

Who wants to go?

Is this the same trail that all those buggies rolled and broke down, and were stuck in the same place for 8 hours? :? :lol3: Or are we running some different stuff?

Pick a day Richard and i'm in. That is, if you have my coilover mounts done by then :brows: .

Richard I am 100% in if it is the last Saturday the 26th. I have relatives in Ridgecrest I need to go see anyway, so I will join you for pizza but not for the trip home. I'll go home Sunday afternoon.

Hey Desert Dog, what kind of coilovers are you getting?

Kings front and rear. Have a feeling that im going to have to experiment around with the rear a little to work the bugs out. Rear coilovers on a JK are very difficult to get right because the frame rails are so wide, thats why most do the front only. I definitely dont like the ORE cantalever system.

If Richard gets the welding done, Id love to test them out in Ridgecrest :Thumb:

Only rear coilovers Ive seen on a JK that are worth a damn require cutting into the cab floor to get the travel needed :banghead:

If I get my rig fixed in time I would be down for a trip at Ridgecrest, I have a uncle over that I havent seen for awhile :drinks:

This will be a two locker and 33" tire minimum trip, just what it takes to run the trails. I'd say we'll run Jagged Edge and then maybe head over to Snake Bait.

Well I only have a rear locker so I guess if we want to go we will have to tie our XJ's together, your's in the front and mine in the back, that way we will both have 2 lockers.

Do you have a LS in the rear? Really, locked front and LS rear works.......or being a pretty good driver and knowing how to use the e-brake.

But, in the rocks, front locker is better than rear only locker.

These couple of trails aren't hard, but that is relative. Since I've only run them with 40" tires it's hard to remember what they'd be like on 33's. Let's see how many want to go, and take it from there.

Of course, if it's 37's and up and you're not afraid of more potential body damage, there are a lot more trails to run. We can run full bodies on Eliminator, Escalade, Schizo, URF Canyon, Red Ant, Sweet and Low, Windy Ridge, not sure about Lost and Found but probably. These canyons are generally tighter than JV canyons, so you just have to be careful.

I like king coilovers...thats what i have in the front of mine right now...i plan on getting some in the rear too just dont have the 1200 dollars for the pair yet....but yeah i can imagine how it would be a issues with those jks.....i havent really looked in the rear of mine but it seems like it would not be an easy upgrade....unless you want to take your entire back seat out of your jeep....well i would really like to see your rig when it gets done, its gonna one badass rig.
