APRIL 16-17: Motinno and Cougar Buttes anyone?

Okay.... so here is the deal.

I have not been wheeling in some time. Between a lot of issues with (mostly) armor, I have had little chance to wheel since the New Year. Now this is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too long!

So to kick off me getting back into the driver's seat, I have acquired a set of training wheels for my rig and have picked a very mild spot to get back my bearing. I know, easy.... how many want to run an easy trail (you IOR boys look like you were born to crawl)?

So.... with no more fan fare, here are the gory details:

MOTINNO and COUGAR BUTTES

Motinno is a single trail, about 2 miles long. I've heard it called a mini Hammers and the like (it is very near to JV, but not in the park). It is a difficult trail and will take us a 4+ hours to run the two miles if we don't have any breakdowns (Randy and I went last year, we took most of the hardest lines and I needed the strap once and had lunch, it took us about five hours to run the two miles). I would rate the trail a 4 out of 5. This trail will require lockers and 33s (I think there will be spare seats for those that want to sit out this trail or it can be walked as it isn't very long. Also... for those that think this minimum is a joke, there are rumors that someone will "buff your testies" if you can run it SANS locker.... to this day, no one has been pleasured and I am not interested in several hours of recovery because you thought you could get someone to pop out of a bush to lick your balls... so please, heed the minimum requirements for this trail (Yes, I am aware of the YouTube video of Bash making it through in a ZJ without running the lockers, but Bash is a special kind of guy and few could do it... how many times he took the strap and how many times he actually engaged the lockers.... well, no one knows but him.)). Last time ran, I ended up with some body damage and cut important tranny lines, so be ready for some carnage... I expect more carnage this time around!! :wings:

Cougar Buttes is an area of trails out on the western side of Johnson Valley. This is the "children's" area of the famous Hammer's, if you will. The most famous trails at Cougar Buttes consist of: Bullfrog, Cakewalk, Crazy 8, On the Rocks, etc.. Without a breakdown, we could most likely run 3/4 to all of the trails in one day. I would rate this area a 2 to 3+ depending on the trail selected. These trails will require 31s, but larger tires and at least one locker will make your day MUCH, MUCH more enjoyable (and everyone else's... plus at the minimum, you most likely will acquire vehicle damage at the minimum). There are plenty of extra credit lines here for those that want to break shit.

I plan on doing Motinno on Saturday, and then roll on over to find a good camping spot over near Cougar Buttes, Saturday afternoon. If it isn't too late by the time we get camp setup, maybe roll on one of the Cougar Buttes' trails or try a little shooting before chow and drinks. On Sunday it will be chow and then wheeling, with some shooting along the way if something looks interesting to shoot at. Hope is to be out of there, early afternoon to be home for dinner.

Weather will be epic.... this is the desert and there is a small window twice a year to get out there without oppressive temps (I know.... you Daliens are used to oppressive, but for those of us that have most of our teeth, we have less tolerance for this kind of thing). Currently, the forecast calls for highs around 80 and lows around 50 and sunny... PERFECT!!

Might be better to meet at the meeting spot... VONS in Victorville, but if you want to meet by the trailhead, we will see you there. I am guessing we will be at the trailhead around 10am. I will PM you my number just in case.

Motinno is fun... you guys will have a blast! Too bad your rig is down, I'd have liked to have seen it and would have enjoyed watching you kick ass in it. If you'd like to camp, there will be plenty of room out there and Sunday's runs should be fun too (Crazy 8 and On The Rocks are suppose to be harder trails than the older ones at Cougar Buttes, but I have not yet run them, so I am not sure).

What's with the rest of you ginas? At least Pete has the excuse that his woman will beat him if he doesn't stay home.

Sweet! There will be at least a white two door and a green four door jeep (both on 37s). The white one has IOR stickers.

See you in the morning.
