There will be a deep pit dinner and raffle at the Norris Rd Veterans Hall on Sat Oct 13 at 6:30 pm. Trail runs are planned for Sun Oct 14 to Miller Jeep Trail, Freeway Ridge, Sherman Pass Trail, and Nightmare Canyon. All of the raffle proceeds will go to Stewards of the Sequoia.

Stewards has been very instrumental in protecting our local trails by working closely with the Forest Service and the BLM, by organizing trail maintenance, and by keeping the local user groups aware of issues. Stewards has also had an impact in Washington bringing attention to our struggles to preserve recreation opportunities on public land.

Dinner will be $12 for adults and $6 for children. I'll post up a registration form as soon as I can. We'd really like people to register and pay for dinner in advance so we can get an idea of how much food to prepare, and so we can be prepared for the trail runs on Sun. The cost is just for dinner, raffle tickets will be sold at the event, and no cost for the trail runs.

Here is a link to the event on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/events/403264309708754/

This is going to be an annual event, and is a great opportunity to support Stewards who works hard right in our own back yard. The event is local to allow for much broader participation, no need to travel and camp somewhere. We're running many of the local trails so newer people to our sport have an opportunity to learn where the trails are.

Please make plans to attend and invite your friends. This is for a good cause and we'll have a great time.

I will be there. I will run a trail that will give me some body damage. The Suburban is to straight.

Yea, Richard addressed this at the last M&G. They are running Last Chance Canyon only now.

BTW, the event form that we handed out has a sign up sheet on the back, so you can fill it out and mail it in. You can pay for dinner at the door, but we're hoping to get a reasonable head count ahead of time so we know how much food to get.

Yes, there will be a run on Last Chance Canyon instead of Nightmare.

Jeff, I drove my suburban through last chance and over to the tunnel years ago, and that was only on 37s. That trail will be like an easy dirt road for your beast.

It's probably an hour and 15 minutes to Last Chance. If you stay in the bottom of the canyon it's easy, but there are places to play along the sides that are pretty interesting. There's a few places where you could easily roll the 'burb again. :thefinger:

Plus, the scenery is interesting.

Katie and I will be there. Sorry for the late notice but I did not expect to be in town this weekend.
