Safety (and Comms) clinic.
I am in the beginning stages of setting up a safety clinic for both club members and as a tool to advertise the club. I already have a location and at least two master mechanics to do inspections. Basic shit can be fixed on the spot since this will be in a full shop with everything one might require to repair. I have secured discount pricing on all repairs that will be preformed that day... that may or may not apply to bigger jobs that will have to be scheduled, but I've found the shop to be very reasonable in the past.
I am currently thinking about either the second or third weekend in December or second weekend in January (assume the third is the NOOB run) and would like a big IOR turnout to make it look good for possible new members. I am doubting many of you will come... so I am thinking of other creative ways to boost goodwill. Maybe host some food and/or music?
Any thoughts on what might be a better date to get participation from Bako?
As far as the COMMS inspections go.... I have a guy. I have not yet approached him, but think he'll be down for it. He owns a CB shop and is very knowledgeable. I do not believe he works with amateur stuff, but if you are at that level, you probably already have decently configured comms (I may be the exception. lol). If I can get him, I'll insure he brings a wealth of spare parts/connectors/antennas to make sure all of us leave with good working comms.
My final hope is to inject some interest in the Ventura Chapter from the local folks. I understand that CI4x4 is again having big drama issues and we should easily be able to pick off some of their actual wheeling members as they seem to be getting pissed, as well as others (VC4WD and the Axle Snappers are no more).
Thoughts and/or suggestions?
Once a date has been picked, I'll move this from proposed.
