OK everyone... It's time to go to the hammers!
What's everybody's plans for KOH week? (3rd to the 8th of February)
I've got a couple weeks of planning to do, but it looks like I might be driving down to LA and driving Cal's jeep up on Monday the 4th. I'll be staying till the end of the week. If not I'll be driving my own heep, or even the VW just to save the hassle of fixing the jeep before I go. The chips have to fall a certain way for all of this to work out, but I'll be there no matter how they fall.
I'll keep a running tally of who is all going with an annotated plan.
Committed:
1. Cliff, bob, Joey, Jim H, and a bunch of others. Leaving the 30th. Going to wheel!
2. Jeremy. Leaving the 5th. Looking for a convoy.
3. Aaron and co. Leaving the 7th for the weekend.
4. Brad and Mr. Buddy, Thinks the week prior and guesses into the week of.
5. Ben H. and a few Fresnonians. Weekend prior fri-sun
6. Chris, there for the press sft meeting, and 3 days to cover the race with night runs.
7. Rodger and brother, 7th-10th
8. Joshy, 7th-10th
9. Richard (of course) 1st through the 9th. racing team NAXJA/Petty cash 4643 in the EMC.

11. Jeff- 8th to the 10th.
12. Robert, the 1st through the 3rd.
13. GJ, 7th (maybe 6th)- through the 9th.
Maybe:
1. Frances and Justin. showing interest? perhaps? just barely maybe?

First week of February. The 3th to the 8th. The unlimited race is on the 9th. The Every Man Challenge is on the 8th, and the much anticipated King of the Trimmers class is on the 4th. Along with a couple of races in between all of that that nobody really cares about.

Who's all going? I'd rather wheel than watch.

Oh man... after my last trip in December... no fucking way was I doing that ever again without a camper! so I got a topper... yeah, not the style you all roll in, but hey, it will block the wind, rain, sleet, and I can light a heater Mr Buddy in that bitch! No more being cold!! Ha!
I can see why that is a problem Matt. Although... that trailer is pretty cool. What about a small space heater like the Mr Buddy?

I thought you said your hammock thing was the shit no matter how cold it was and you never had any use for a trailer!!!

Nope.... my setup is rated to 20 degrees and I get cold (so I might be happy in there to the mid 30s)... you must have heard that elsewhere. The hammock is the shit though... very comfy way to sleep. Just not when the temps drop to under 20 and there is a 20mph wind.
As far as trailers go.... I am jealous of guys that have them (we're talking motor home here, right?). So I think you must be thinking of someone else as well.
Although, I used to make fun of the guys that towed their junk to the trail, but I became a full member of that club and well... I have to say, I enjoy being part of that club now. It's pretty nice being able to lug whatever I want, arrive rested, and have that security blanket in case I break.
edit: thinking about the hammock.... maybe I told you I could put a sleeping pad in there and could go quite a bit colder.... maybe another 10-15 degrees from what I read on the net. But like I said earlier... not really my thing to do it that cold. They also have the quilts that are rated much lower... maybe as low as 0 if memory serves me right... you could add a sleeping pad to that to get you lower. I tried the sleeping pad once, but felt it took away from the great lay the hammock gives.

I'm going twice:
I will be going up the weekend before for a press safety meeting, just for the day and I will probably wheel a few trails too.
I will be staying there Weds, Thurs, and Friday. I will have a press pass so will be down in the action taking pics during the races and LCQ. Unfortunately, I wont get a lot of wheeling in for those 3 days (except for night runs).

You guys mind if a couple of Fresnonians coming down and join up with you all the weekend before the race? We'd be down there Friday afternoon and staying until Sunday evening.
Cheers,
Ben H.

You going to come in Friday or Saturday? Either way, I'll get you a geo loc of the camp spot, as I am thinking it will start to fill up fast Friday afternoon.
And actually... you have a good idea. Seeing the crowd really isn't my thing, maybe I'll roll home after wheeling Saturday and come back the following Saturday to wheel with you guys on the weekend after.

I will be going the 8th thru the 10th too. Hopefully I can stay in Josh's NASCAR race trailer. If not, no worries. I will be in a 2011 a Toyota Land Cruiser. The big one, not the little one. I will have my Mr. buddy to keep me warm no matter what.
I don't think I will have time to get the Burb ready so I'm taking the easy route and driving a reliable SUV.
