Hey guys, lets try to put something together for this Sunday 5-3-2009. I'm willing to go up Freeway Ridge (Again), but would rather get over to Miller Jeep trail in Frazier park. Does anyone know if it is for sure open. Last year they didn't open it until the middle of May. They keep the gate locked at the first creek crossing until some Jeep club gets a chance to clean up the trail. GJ- can you add John and I to the members list, I'm sure you have a picture of our jeep someplace. And how do I get a sticker? Also, I've been talking to a new jeeper named Greg who would like to join us this weekend for a run. He has been reading the Forum and thinks we sound like a "cool" group. No one spoil our reputation and tell him the truth, OK? Anyways I can't remember how to go about getting signed up to use the forum. He is able to read it but can't make a posting or reply to a posting. Can you list the instructions here on this subject so when he reads it he can join the forum. Also, Chris made one heck of a ladder rack for John's new work truck this week. We all know he does great custom stuff for jeeps, but keep him in mind for other things as well.

I don't know if i will be able to make a run this Sun...but will try.

All he has to do is register a user name. There is a Register button above the login button. Once he does that he is in. If he continues to have problems have him give me a call 661 619 6242. I will walk him through it.

Since I don't know if Miller Jeep Trail is open yet, lets go up Freeway Ridge ( Again). Maybe there won't be snow so it will feel like a different trail. It is suppose to rain today, so we may hit mud. (cool). Meet at Chevron on highway 178, at old Mesa Marin Race Track at 8am. Greg, if you read this and have any questions give me a call 587-4554 until 5 pm Friday and 319-5778 over the weekend. John and I will bring all the necessary 4x4 equipment (tow straps, U- bolts, tracker jack, tool box, first aid kit). You will want to bring drinks for you and your wife (water, soda, so on) and maybe pack a lunch. Sometimes we run into trouble on the trail so we never know how long we will be out. If no problems it'll take about 3 hours, if we hit snow or get stuck alot it could take quite a bit longer. But we are usually out no later than 5 pm, except for the first time we went out with infectious and everyone got stuck in the snow (especially Bert- ha, ha), we were out until 10pm. We ran into a snow covered car on the trail and had to turn around and head back the way we came. Wear pants and bring a jacket and gloves in case of snow. If you have a CB bring it, if not you can use a small hand radio (we stay close, so it will do in a pinch.) If you don't have a radio it's ok, we can just yell at you if we need to. Make sure you bring a spare tire, just in case. We will air down or tires so if you have an air pump bring it. If not, someone will have one or you can even drive back to Chevron and air back up. I'll bring my two Lab Pups, since they like 4x4ing more than we do.

you guys have it backwards. Freeway ridge is up by 178 and Lake Isabella. It is always open (if you can make it through). I was wanting to know if Miller Jeep Trail was open yet. This is the one by Fraizer Park. They lock the gate at the base of the mountain right before the creek crossing. They keep the gate closed until some jeep club clears it out each year. Sometime after May 1st depending on snow level. Anyways, since no one knowsif it is Open for sure we are going up freeway ridge. See you in the morning. leaving Chevron at 8am

only four of us showed up, but we had a great time. We completed the trail in 3 hours which is a record for me. No one got stuck. No snow. We had a great time. Greg, from Taft, showed up with his family. It was is first run through freeway ridge. The gate keeper scared him at first. He wasn't sure what he got himself in to. But he did fine, even without lockers. The gate keeper is completely different from the last time we went through. Looks like quite a few motorcycles have tore it all up. We had to actually go up the right side, rather than the left side. which was a little different.
