Winter on the Rocks. St George Utah, January 24-25

Many of us have been talking for a long time about attending this event. Some because they are encouraged by the pics Abendx posted of his fall tip, and others because they are sick of the crowds at JV during the hammers.

The event will be January 24-25 2014, in St. George Utah, which is a 6 hour drive from Bakersfield. It includes guided trail runs, some meals, and a raffle.

A few of us have already committed to going months ago and will be running Chain Reaction and T&T. We may also run Arrowhead on our own. These trails are considered extreme, but there are plenty of guided intermediate trail runs for others to participate in. We will be staying in a hotel because it will be way too cold for camping.

Follow this link to register for the event: http://www.winterontherocks.com/

Post up in this thread if you plan on going.

OK, lets get on the same page and try to reserve at the same place. I'm fine with whatever hotel you guys pick because you guys know the area pretty good.

I will be leaving around noonish on Thursday the 23rd, and coming home the morning of Sunday the 26th (I have to work on Monday).

Thanks for handling the hotel situation Brad. That is gonna be one CRAZY party suite! :drunkbuds:

I will stop in St. George before getting to the suite and buy my food and drinks before heading over. We have a kitchen, right? Is there a BBQ?

Yes... BBQ and full kitchen.

Plan on buying alcohol outside of Utah.... cheaper and more alcohol content. You can get full strength, but it's close to double of what you are used to paying.

Pictures of the place I'm trying to get.

And of course.... right across the street is the wheeling. :Thumb:

If I were in your shoes and had to choose one.... Dixie it would be!

You can go to the Hammers anytime.... Dixie is a bit more of a trip.

COME!!! :celebrate:

We keep missing one another.... myself and the hotel. UGH!!!

You'd be surprised what I am getting this for. Quite a bit less than the HIX down the street.

And Roger answered that one.... averages for this time of year are in the 20s overnight. It's doable... but really, not any fun.

As for tent camping.... other than mine (which I haven't used since this time last year because I camped in JV and yeah.... screw all that!), no one seems to do it anymore. IDK... it's all motor homes now days? Bunch of sissy wheelers I guess! Well... Roger and myself are hold outs. Well.. Roger is, I pussed out and bought a shell and heater.
