Scrambler Canyon, Calico run; 9/20/14
Roger and I are having rock-crawling withdrawals right now. Its been a LONG hot summer and we can't take it anymore. We need to find some big rocks ASAP.
In late September, the weather in the desert usually dips back under 100 degrees and makes a morning run tolerable. So, we planned a run for September 20th to run Scrambler Canyon in Calico. This is just a day run. We want to leave Bakersfield at about 6am and arrive at Gatekeeper before 9am.
Be mindful that Scrambler Canyon isn't the normal "loop" (Odessa/Doran) that people run out there; this is the secret "hard" trail that we enjoy running but almost never get to.
Anyone is welcome to come, but we ask that rigs be built to the following prerequisites;
* 37" tires
* Both axles locked
* Upgraded axles / shafts (no D30s or D35s)
* Armor, sliders, skids. Body damage is possible and has happened numerous times.
* Front and rear attachment points for recovery.
If you want to caravan out there with us in a less-built rig to run the "loop", that is cool too. Just make sure you know where you are going out there or have someone with you that does. Its a very easy place to get lost
