Winter 4x4 Jambo, St. George Utah
I will be heading to Utah on January 22nd for this event and returning on Sunday the 25th. St. George is an easy 6-hour drive from Bakersfield (about 1.5 hours past Vegas).
This event was formerly known as "Winter on the Rocks", but the name was changed this year to "Winter 4x4 Jambo" because a new club took it over. Trails offered will be basically the same as every year - mild to F*#king CRAZY! This area is just as scenic as Moab, but 6 hours closer and has better services.
For the hardcore guys that love Johnson Valley, you will think JV sucks after going here - the driving is SOOOO much more technical. Make sure your vehicle is in "EXCELENT" running order (check every weld and bolt before leaving) and that you have a DEEP supply of spare parts; Every buggy from IOR/Trailblazers that has visited this area has broke. The "hard" trails are NASTY.
The easier/moderate trails are also badass and very scenic. Each trail run has experienced guides that will spot you and help you through. They don't leave anyone behind. Your run-of-the mill Jeep/Toy on 35s will have a great time here.
You must register for the event at the following link: http://www.winter4x4jamboree.com/
There is a great campground with RV spots right near the trails, awesome condos 5 minutes from the trails, and cheap hotel rooms 15 minutes from the trails.
I am renting a 3-bedroom condo if anyone wants to pitch in. Just be mindful that I party late and you probably wont sleep well if you like to go to bed early. I also cannot dismiss the possibility of full-frontal nudity.
