Hungry Valley OHV area run; Jan 30-31.

Take I-5 south toward Gorman. Exit at "Smokey Bear Rd", go west for 100 yards and it ends at "Pyramid Lake Rd". Look south-west across the paved road and you will see a Hungry Valley SVRA sign and a dirt road. Follow this wide graded dirt road for about 3/4 mile until you get to the park gate. You will have to pay $10 per vehicle to get in. Tell them you are with the Infectious Off-road group in Aliklik Campground. Go about another 2.5 miles and you will see Aliklick Campground and the offroad practice area on your left. Turn in here and look for a taped off area that they saved for us. You can reach me at 661-319-7192 if you get lost. The road is plenty good enough for any RV, and there is lots of tent camping available.

Meet at the campground at 10:00am for Saturday's festivities. The Rogers Family will be BBQing dogs and burgers for lunch.

Lets use Channel 4 as usual.

Newbies / significant others will run obstacles on the practice course on 1/30, then off to BC109 to test their skills out on 1/31. I guess thats the plan for now.

Just submitted the forms and fees for group event at Hungry Valley (otherwise they will not reserve spots and its first come, first serve).

Cool thing about Aliklik campground is that you can sit at your campsite and watch people run stairstep and boulder climb.

For those that have never been, the 4x4 practice area is like a big "skate Park" for Jeeps. There are obstacles for begining and expert drivers, stock and modified rigs.

View of boulder climb and stair step from campsite.

Nope. I had to handle some business down in LA today, so I stopped by the state park office and met with the event coordinator Peter Jones, who is a nice guy and fellow Jeeper himself. Since we are not having paid sponsors, vendors, or conducting business; he only charged me an activity Fee of $75 for the group and a $25 permit fee for a total charge of $100. Of course, each vehicle will still have to pay the standard $10 park fee at the gate.

They have future plans for a regular group camping area where sites can be reserved.

Sweet You can tow like that here in ca, but if I remember right the two trailers can't be over 25 ft each and you have to have braking and lights on both and a class A with doubles don't hold me to it :thankyou:

you can tow a vehical behind a fifth wheel here in CA but have to have recreational class A license....

Yea I've looked into it already. You can pull doubles in Ca, but have to have a class A and the over length (both trailers and trucks) can't be more than 65ft. The 1st/center trailer has to be 5th wheel or goose neck.

One of the guys with the Hungry Valley Park Service told me that we should let the newbies/ladies drive the "Pronghorn Trail". He said it is challenging, but not too extreme and it is right next to the camp site. Has anyone ever ran this trail? I have never heard of it.

Never mind. I just read that H3s and FJ Cruisers run that trail, so you know its too easy :lol3: .

BC109 sounds better for a Sunday run.

Whoever is going should help with the cost of the $100.00
Is camping included in that fee? or would we have to pay extra for camping?
