Would love to join you, I'll have to see. I'm going to the SoCalXJFest in Big Bear the weekend before that, and racing in Lucerne Valley the weekend after, but maybe I can join you for Sat.

So whats the itinerary Harry? Is everybody camping? Are we going to Caravan from Bako? Are we meeting the others at the Doran turn-off or at the Mule Canyon turn-off?

Here is where I am going to ask for your assistance, since this is my first time going to Calico, what time would be a good time to take off and meeting place here in Bako, I wanted to 4.0, i mean caravan out there, I plan on camping out there, there will be guys for XJsocal and Jeep-XJ there friday night, when i find out exactly where they are camping I will post that here, I know they will be on channel 11 on their CB's. I know the list is getting bigger, remember everyone try to bring a flag or some red white and blue, this is the Armed Forces Day Run!!!!!! :salute: :salute: :salute:

If we leave Bakersfield at 7:00am, we will be at Calico before 9:30am. Last couple of runs there, we met at the Shell station at 58 and Weedpatch (that way people in East Bakersfield don't have to back-track to the meeting spot). This meeting spot also has gas, food, and Starbucks nearby. I prefer to camp off of Doran Rd because you are closer to the trails and there is not as many motorcycles and quads kicking up dust as in Mule Canyon. But, Mule Canyon has more campsites. We can probably set up camp and be on the trail by 10:30. The whole Doran / odessa loop takes about 3.5 hours to run with a really capable small group (like the last trip), and about 6 hours with a mixed group - of course many runs at Calico turn into overnight recoveries. Night runs up and back down Doran Canyon are popular and relatively safe (no huge drop-offs to fall down) but usually result in more vehicle damage. Gatekeeper is a wildcat, and should be ran last - if anything is going to break, it will happen here. It won't be easy getting a stuck vehicle out of there. Most people rate this run as "difficult", but I would say its moderate with a couple of difficult obstacles and some side options for "Henry types" to try. I would sit this run out if I had a bone-stock Jeep, but a little lift - bigger tires - and a locker will get you through fine. Odessa Canyon is no place for full sized vehicles like Silverados, Hummers, and Blazers (a Jeep JK barely fits).

I am 99% up for this.... assuming I am not in the middle of working on my steering.

Randy (Rando30ex) follows me pretty much everywhere I go and he wants to come to.... I guess I am sexy that way and anything to make Chris jealous is fun for me.

I also might bring another friend as well... he is running a pretty capable, trailer queen YJ.

Are you guys planning on Camping Friday night, Saturday night, or both?
