So I now have 35's with 4.88 gears and the Pro Comp tail shaft conversion. I ordered the speedo gear that is supposed to be correct (39 tooth) but it will not fit. The diameter if the gear is too large.

Any Ideas?

GJ,

The gear is concentric. Rotate it 90* and try it again. Also, lube the o-ring before installing the gear. Mine did the same thing on my TJ, and I had to clock it 90* and it slid in.

You did get the short shaft gear right? The long shaft gear is for pre-TJ jeeps.

Also, some SYE interfere with larger speedo gears. If this is the case, you may have to program it instead.

Make sure the speedo gear housing is installed with the numbers down and slightly toward the rear of the Jeep.
