IMO long arm kits are going to give the best performance and ride. If you can afford it i would go that way.

I went with a pro comp 4 inch long arm kit and it has some good and bad running 35s.
first the good it drives at highway speeds as good as stock ever did, it's as tough as nails,
it flexes like a monster to keep traction, it comes with shocks, and no bobeling down the road
or bump steer.
now the bad the trans. skid plate is to low, it has no grease points so it creeks a littel, and the
35 inch tires get in to the finders when it flexes.
over all I love the performance that the long arm kit gives and if I couldn't afford it I would just
save untel I could but I would buy a different kit maybe rubicon express, teraflex, t&t customs,
or rough country.
the rough country long arm kit is just about $1500.00
but if you are going to run 35s go bigger than a 4 inch lift.

I would take a serious look at the Teraflex kits. The ride is awesome, the quality and service is outstanding, the flex is great, and their prices are not bad. 6" lift for a LJ on 35s looks fantastic IMO. Get the best kit you can afford, at least one with control arms that does not use cam bolts to correct pinion angle. The Teraflex shocks that come with their kits are also pretty damn good, way better than stock. Don't be shy about calling their customer service # to ask questions.
The short arm kits will get you through the same trails that the long arm kits will, but the long arm kits have a much better highway ride.
Just stay away from the Rough Country, Skyjacker, and Trailmaster lift kits. You run your Jeep through some pretty technical stuff, so I don't think that these lifts will suit your needs in the long run.
With your driving skill and a little more height on your TJ, your going to be a tough guy to follow!

I am curious what you base this on??? I have zero experience with Trailmaster but have seen a lot of Sky Jacker and Rough Country lifts used.
To the Op:
If you are a serious rock crawler, then you might want to stay away from a long arm kit. They have a tendency to hang up more than a short arm kit does. Long arm kits are awesome for on road driveability and high speed off road. I am basing this on experience with TJ lifts.

Those lifts are bargain lifts that use cheap components. They are fine for your average mall crawl with an occasional foray in the dirt, but TJer is looking to build his rig up for the Rubicon this summer, and he takes the hard lines when he off-roads a couple times a month.
I have a 4" Rough country lift on my TJ. The components, right down to the bolts, are inferior compared to the Teraflex, Old Man Emu, Currie, and rock crawler suspensions I have installed in the past. The lift is so stiff, that I have no sway bar on it at all and I cant even tell! 99% of the time you hear someone tell you that "you don't need a sway bar" they have a Rough Country, skyjacker, Rancho, or Trailmaster lift. Trust me, rolling through the rocks or driving a long trail with a stiff rig sucks. Ride in a jeep with a Rough country lift and then in a jeep with an OME lift, the difference will be immediately apparent. A decent lift should ride the same or better than stock, otherwise what have you achieved other than tire clearance?
I am not trying to be condescending at all, just recommending something that will serve his needs a little better without breaking the bank. TJer, if you want to try a TJ with the Rough Country lift, you are more than welcome to give mine a spin.
I am also not stuck on Teraflex. That was just my recommendation. There are a lot of good lifts out there for the TJ.
Also, for 6" of lift on your TJ, you will need a SYE and a longer CV driveshaft - so factor that into your budget as well. A trans drop will not work for 6".

he should try to get a hold of rubiconryan5000 & bbryan, they both have LJ's riding on 37's and might be able to help him out. mabe they can tell him what made them go with the lifts they installed. ryan was at the meet & greet last night but haven't seen bbryan in a while.
