Yep, that is my opinion and I feel it needs to stop!

There is no telling how much verbiage was changed, deleted, or whatever, but it occurs and often!

Call me whatever you like, it is a problem and if you fail to see it as one, maybe you are part of the problem?

I love you all... but leave the shit alone!

If you don't like the language/etc, move it to the playground.

Don't modify... you end up changing the tone and meaning of the posters post. Want to make a joke? Quote it and do a "fixed" in a later post in the tread.

Geez..... the internet isn't new to you all and before long..... this board will be JKF. The modifications are the start.

Personally i believe the language should not be on here. This was origanlly a family friendly club and it is starting to go away from that. Plus the trips are no longer family friendly from my point of view. This is one of the reasons i dont go on the bigger trips anymore. I have 3 daughters myself and if i was in calico with the BS going on there, there would have been issues if my daughters were there. I know there has been quite a few poeple that i have met from infectious that are no longer active with this club for these exact reasons.

There needs to be someone to clean up this group even more so than they already are. Bring it back to fully family friendly or there will be even more people leaving.

Ya i may piss certain people off with this but oh well. I have been a part of infectious longer than a lot of the people on here and this is all getting out of hand in my book.

In defense of the calico trip, the wilder events took place well after midnight and the kids were asleep. What went on during the day was family friendly.

If moderators have a problem with posts, publish official rules (voted on by members if need be) and enforce standardized rules. Modifying member's posts is censorship. We wouldn't tolerate our government censoring our speech, so why would our friends even want to?

I was just using the calico trip as an example.

As well as getting totally trashed while driving on trails. Now i will ocasionally have a beer or two on a trail. But never to the point of being trashed.

To each their own i guess... Just not what this club used to do... (im talking 3 to 4 yrs ago

Were you there? Did you see these things on the trail or just making shit up? I wa there and recall the drinking to excess occurred around the camp fire and the pic.... How long have you been around?

as for the drinking i was not refering to just calico. It happens on a lot of trails. I dont mind passengers drinking. thats what ever. but be responsible enough to not drink and drive and be mature enough to realize i am not bashing YOU! I am talking in general!

And i have been part of infectious going on 4yrs. How about you? yr and a half?

No not about that again. I am talking in general on trail runs.

Back to the Brads post about the language and stuff on the forum,
If the Mods feel the need to change something then it obviously isnt appropiate. In my opinion we need to keep the open forum free of disturbing images and foul language. If we want new people to join and grow the club it should be somewhat cleaned up in my opinion and go back to family friendly!

Both runs I have gone on... had beer, but no amount of over drinking... Although I have only been part of this club for a little over a year.

Big Bear Trip with Brad, Pete, Tilly and others was great... The people that had out of control drinking were the LA Gangster folks across the street from us at the campground...

Disturbing pics are in a password protected area... am I right? Or did some get put on the mainstream forum?

Also, not to nitpick... but speaking of family friendly... To set an example, you should probably change your tagline from having abbreviated foul language and sexual innuendos. Just my opinion... take it as you will. (not trying to start any trouble here).

Well im glad there was no excessive drinking. I have seen it though on trails.

as for pictures being posted, there have been pictures posted that shouldnt be and the MODS had to move them because of that. This causes more work for them to do and they shouldnt have to moderate a forum with adults on it.

As for my sig, it is called sensorship. It works wonders.

I will address the pictures issue.

The three pics I think you are talking about came from DD and myself. Two were DD photoshopping a dildo into my hand and one me doing the same to Matt. Any other pics of that nature that I know of, are in the playground. No one is bringing dildos to the trail.... or at least no one would have the balls to bring one out of they did.

If anyone should be upset, it would be Matt and myself. Neither were and I think both of us thought the pics to be funny.

Now to the general topic of you not liking the club's direction.

We grew..... we grew a lot in the last year and a half. We brought in a lot of new faces and personalities. A lot of these new (and a bunch of the old) are heavy drinkers. I doubt anyone put up a sign calling for these types to apply, it is just the lot we drew. Now... like these folks or not (I do!!), they are what is helping grow the club. All those prizes you get in Bako.... if the club was still the size it is in Oxnard, there would be no prizes, vendors want to see some return on their investment. Numbers count.

I don't know what to tell you.... there are other clubs out there that probably have no drinking rules and no foul language rules. They aren't clubs I'd like to be in and I bet you really don't want to be told what to do either, so maybe you'd not like them either?

I think the strength of any group has a lot to do with it's diversity. We are extremely diverse and I think it makes us a great club.

Just a few interesting facts to add:

* We took a poll of membership last year to see if foul language should be censored. The OVERWHELMING majority of members voted AGAINST sensoring foul language. I think that only about 2-3 people voted for it.

* It doesnt really matter how long you have been a member. In the last two years to the date, this club has grown by 257%. Having 70 rigs at a M&G is a reality now, where when I first attended M&Gs 3 years ago we had about 10 on a good night. I won't speculate what it is, but something is being done right.

* The King of the IOR OGs, founder, and all-around good guy GJ Lusich has stated repeadedly that this club will not sensor foul language or be trail Nazis on his watch.

Just thought I would throw that out there :stirPot:

Ok i was unaware of this matter. I withdraw my statement about it then.

I was not the one who brought up the "how long have you been a member".
I was just stating how long i have been a part of IOR. I agree something must be going right wether it is advertisement, word of mouth, or whatever. That is a good thing i have never said it wasnt. :drinks:

I do remember him saying such and in the past there wasnt as many people in IOR. We are a very diverse group and with such i feel there is going to come a time when some guidelines come into play. Just like when you decided to just throw guidelines about trail run requirements. Theres going to come a time when there will need to be requirements to keep the trail runs as safe as possible. With us growing so much and getting into the public eyes we are going to start seeing issues arising soon and thats all i am trying to prevent.

Do we have any minors on the forums? Unless you are close to driving age, you really don't have much business on the forum...

I can understand a friendly recommendation of not using excessive profanity, but to censor posts or make a huge deal out of common, conversational profanity is a bit oppressive.

Not everyone is a good fit for IOR, and although all are welcome, changing the collective personality of the club to accommodate the feelings of a few is unlikely. 4x4Him is a club that may be a good fit for those who want a more straight-laced environment. Family friendly is different than walking on eggshells so that noone's child hears or reads a word of profanity. This i's a family friendly environment, in my opinion, but adult conversation will still take place.

If my words were censored without something being said to me, i's be upset. Let's not run off old, dedicated members in hopesof impressing a few new ones that likely won't stick around after 1-2 runs or meet n greets.

Let's drop the longevity issue. If you paid to be a member, you have the same voting rights..... whether you've been here 1.5 years, 4 years, or 10 years. It is a red herring if I ever saw one. I had a little convo with AJ via PM, basically saying that maybe he should go on a day run without his family to see what it is all really about. Yes, I told him we were wild, but we all try and watch ourselves around the kids (or so that is what I have noticed) and the drinking is not nearly as bad as he might have thought.... of course, when the sun goes down, the rigs get parked, and the campground comes alive.... all bets are off.

So have we decided the language issue is a non-starter and the drinking isn't as bad as it was made out to be?

Okay... back on topic. :Thumb:

I think it is funny how people piss and moan about the simplest things this being on of them! And I do hope that this hurts those type of people's feelings because maybe you could see the big picture the !!! If I was to ever get out of line with talking or something with kids around I would want you to say hey bud my little one is right here and I would gladly correct myself because I have a little one as well and I hope that if I thought that I would get the same respect! She goes with me on ior runs as much as we can and I'm pretty involved with the club and I love to give people a show and have a damn good time doing it and my little girl as well y'all have seen her out with us helping playing and having fun! But what pisses me is and I may be wrong here but I see a lot of bitching about petty things and when it comes to trail head time they never seem to come out and play with us and actually see that we are a good group of people and I for one will never leave someone behind or try to make someone have a bad day or trip!! Why don't we just drop the bs and go have fun and be respectable to others and just wheel because that is what it is about anyway right? We are all considered family in this club so why go somewhere else when most just show up for the raffle and not actually get out and get to know everyone!

That is why I bitch about shit on the forums. Shit on the trail is good to go!

AJ you're out of your element on this one. I'm sure you're XJ friends aren't little angels on the trail. I'm still here after many years of "changes," and I like it more than ever. What you're looking to bash is a figment of your imagination. I don't know of any kids that are actively on the forum, so where is the exposure? If we're too brash for your taste now then you're not obligated to view the forum or go on runs, and I don't just say that to get rid of you. You need to evaluate how your family is growing compared to the group. I say all of this because it's apparent to me that IOR is not the one changing here. It's you and your family, and I don't say that in a bad way. Needs change continuously over time which affect one's viewpoint and judgement.

WOW travis way to bring something up from months ago... This has all been delt with. And as to your statement of my "xj friends" who are you refering to? The few that wheel regularly with me are actually pretty good on the trails. Dont go off the trail trailblazing, dont drink, dont act a fool. So before you jump to conclusions evaluate your choice of words towards me or my "friends"! THANK YOU!
