Night run Fail!!! 05/26/13

Postby AJ99 » May 28th, 2013, 10:28 am

Well went up Rancheria with Roger, Mikey, and Aaron. While going up i got pretty warm. Stopped for a bit to let it cool down. I thought i smelt tranny fluid but wasnt sure. Well we continued on up to Black Gulch. About a mile down Black Gulch we decided to kill some time by going up an extra credit hill. Well about half way up i lost power to the wheels. I started rolling back down. So i stopped, and tried it again. Went maybe a foot or two and then started rolling again. Stopped, got out and saw trans fluid all over. So we rolled the jeep down the hill to where it was level. decided there was no fixing it what so ever so we strapped it all the way down to freeway. Thanks again Mikey, Scotty and Roger for helping me down the hill.

Well got the trans out yesturday. My fluid is burnt like crazy. Found that 3 of my bellhousing bolts were MIA. (Ive never had an issue before with bellhousing bolts but lesson learned on this trip. I will be checking them as well from now on.) When i got the trans on the ground noticed the front seal was tore up. So i decided to pull off the bell housing and the cover that holds the seal. Well when i did that i found this piece inside the trans. No clue what is called because i have never been inside a transmission before but it is cracked all the way through.

Im going to be picking up another trans either today or tomorrow depending on time. If i do i am hoping to have it in tomorrow. We shall see.
Well here are some pics of my fail...

I think that is your pump housing, if trans bolts missing could have shifted under load cauing stress when torque converter didnt line up with trans input
