Mall Crawl Fail! 11-11-2013
This weekend at the Veterans Day Parade in Bakersfield I heard a quiet pop in the beginning of the parade and didn't think anything of it. All through the parade I had (more) trouble than I usually do stacking. Thought maybe it was due to the copious amounts of Armor All that I put on my street queen. Once we got to the end of the parade I shifted back into 2wd and when I pressed the gas pedal and the engine revved but there was no forward motion. I first thought it was due to my inexperience putting my jeep into 4wd as the curbs generally don't require 4wd. When we arrived at the parking lot at the end of the route AJ took a listen and told me that I had broken my axel.
Well it was bound to happen as I only climb curbs (no taller than 5.9") and 30" tires.
I was able to limp my sad Jeep to my Grandpas house and borrow his car to make it to work by the skin of my teeth.
Thank you to everybody that was there to lend a hand. My Grandpa and mother were beyond impressed with how our group comes together to help out when someone has a problem. They couldn't believe it. My Grandpa said he had never seen that amount of dedication to each other sense of his days in the Army Air Core.
