So, a little back story. Pushed my Nova (without engine) out of the garage onto slanted driveway to wash it... obviously hard to push back in... decided to use the winch on the jeep to pull it part way onto the flat area so I could push it back into the garage.

When pulling the cable out, I was only able to pull about 30ft out before it got stuck (still tons of cable on the spool) I looked at it and it appears there is a section where the cable looks crushed and possibly tangled... not sure when/how this happened. I'm thinking this happened prior to me buying the jeep? Since when I have used it, it was never extended very far.

Anyone have an easy way of pulling this the rest of the way out to access if it needs to be repaired and/or so I can respool it correctly?

Did you respool after you used it in Big Bear? It is posiable to have it get kinked then you had way more than 30ft out there bout 50ft or so. come over to my office after work we can get it out BLDG 325 on PH of you need directions give me a call.

Oh now that you mention it... it was pretty far out, I had one of the guys hold tension to re spool it after that pull... damn :(

I'll call you if I have trouble finding you. I get off about 430.

Ive had trouble where the first couple of wraps aren't spooled tight and the line will pull into the lower wrap getting stuck. Hook onto something stout and back up with the winch in free spool. When you re-wrap it make sure the bottom first rows have tension on it.
After I did that it seemed to sit better and not pull into itself.

James, you need to use the bumper hoop-wrap technique to get those out. Very simple and fast solution to this common issue. When I see you next, Ill show you how to do it. Youll say "why didn't I think of that?". It's an old-school technique not passed down to many newbs.

He was able to help me get the winch cable unbound and respun... looks like no damage to the cable!
