AB 144 to take affect Janurary 1st 2012

I know alot of us are gun folks so I thought i would see what you all think of gov Brown making it illegal to open carry.

I pulled this from gunenthusiastspeaks.com

Governor ‘Moon Beam’ Signed AB 144 Into Law
Yes, over the weekend, California Governor Jerry Brown signed the bill that removes Californian’s right to openly carry a firearm. AB 144, the confusing bill authored by Anthony Portantino (D. – La Cañada), will now become the law of land in California in January, unless it is struck down as ‘unconstitutional’ before then.

Make no mistake, this bill will eventually be struck down by the Court as it is a blatant “infringement” of our Constitutional right guaran-teed by the Second Amendment. We just don’t know how quickly that will come about. It’s probably not going to happen before January 1st when the bill will actually become law. Californians will then have no means by which they can legally “bear arms” short of a carry concealed weapon permit, and it is nearly impossible to obtain a CCW permit in California as the law is now.

The only way that the Court may leave this new law in place is if the State changes its CCW law from a “may issue” to a “shall issue” methodology. Currently, concealed carry permits are issued by the Sheriff of each county at his discretion. They are rarely granted except in extreme need cases, or as the law states, where a “determination of good cause” is made. The Sheriffs of more rural counties are usually a little more liberal in the grants than are those of high population counties with major urban cities where they are the strictest in their standards for granting a permit. Funny thing is, politicians are usually granted a CCW permit without question – the same people who are telling us that they don’t want us to be able to carry a firearm.

If the State does change their stance on concealed carry permits, then the Court may leave the new law banning open carry of unloaded firearms in place, as the ability to carry a firearm will be satisfied if we simply obtain a permit. Only thing is, the liberals are never going to change their oppressive CCW law either. As arrogant as they area, they’ll just wait until the court tells them just how wrong they are.

Unloaded open carry is stupid! Why carry a gun you cant use just to show off? That has nothing to do with the intent of the 2nd.

Even loaded open carry is stupid; you lose the tactical advantage of surprise.

If you are serious about practicing your 2nd amendment to protect life, carry a gun concealed with one in the chamber. And learn how to safely use it.

It's sad that us law abiding citizens can't carry to protect ourselves from those non law abiding citizens... Soon enough the only ones who will have guns will be thieves gang members and anyone else who obtained their guns illegally, why would anyone want to take guns away from the good guys? What's next, taking guns away from the cops and just giving them clubs and tazers ?? I need to hurry and get my CCW...

The law posted doesn't take guns away from anyone or limit your ability to protect yourself in any way. Its to stop the misguided knuckleheads that want to walk around the capitol and city halls with unloaded guns exposed on their hips. UNLOADED GUNS!!!!!!!!!! These idiots have even been having unloaded open carry marches in front of police stations. If you are not one of these morons, than the law has NO effect on you.

Not only has this stupid stunt prompted stupid laws, but it has frivolously exhausted MILLIONS of dollars that could have gone to fight for "shall issue" - so that you can carry a LOADED and CONCEALED gun.

Even the CalGun Foundation (the biggest fighter for our right to shall issue), was pleading with these morons too not do the unloaded/open carry thing because it is WORKING AGAINST their efforts to give you shall issue!!!

Sometimes, conservatives need to remove the tin-foil hats, stop watching Prison Planet or listening to Alex Jones, and look at things for what they really are. And this is coming from the biggest conservative out there.

Coming from a confirmed conservative, sometimes conservatives are as stupid as liberals.

I think one of the dumbest things that this law doesn't cover is the open carry of Rifles. I have seen a bunch of interviews with activist that are saying they are no going to be strapped with an unloaded ar-15 or 12 guage... I guess it is more to make a statement at that point.. I hope...

Lets just pray this leads to Ca becoming a shall issue ccw state.
