Strange Projects

Postby REDxj5150 » March 11th, 2012, 9:44 pm

Besides jeeps, does anyone have any projects they'd like to do in their lifetime?

Since I'll be finishing school in 2 weeks, and I'll have a well paying job in 3 weeks. I've turned my thoughts to my spare time. Recently I've been plowing through the wiring on the jeepster, but what do I do once I'm done with the jeepster and need a tow rig??? All I've been thinking is 1960s winnebago for some reason. I don't know how smog laws apply to RV's, but I'd like to put a diesel in one and modernize the interior then use it to go to JV and Moab with.

I mean it doesn't get more classy than driving up with a 68' jeepster being towed by a 68' winne does it?

Define "classy".

Well... Maybe "retro" would be a better term. I want it modern, but with that old feel to it. Far better than the oildale definition of "classy." it will be firing on all cylinders and there won't be a bumper sticker that says, " if you're going to ride my ass at least pull my hair."

Strange Projects

That sounds like a cool project. Maybe a 12v cummins with the fuel and timing turned up. Have a 15 second motorhome!!! Be fun to race the rice cars in it while rolling coal.
2013 Jeep JKUR on 35" Kanati Trail Hogs, 2.5" Rough Country coil lift
2006 Yamaha Rhino 660 on 28" BajaCross, with winch.
2008 Dodge Ram 2500 6.7 CTD leveled with 20's and 35's.
Some boom toys here and there too.

Wouldn't that be a bit strange to be passing cars up the grapevine or Tehachapi in a Winnebago hauling a jeep? Or pull up to a light on a Honda civic and smoke em out.

Matt in the Trailblazers has a '79 Vogue that has been redone on the inside. It's really nice. We've worked on and replaced the carburetor which is problematic on those older vehicles. Swapping in a diesel engine would be cool, but could get expensive.
