Verizon or AT&T?

I have T-Mobile, and I'm tired of having poor coverage when I'm in the Kern River Valley and off road. Out of Verizon and AT&T, who would you say has better coverage? :dontknow:

I hate AT&T they suck in general. Only thing they had was the iPhone.

Verizon has the best network. My phone works almost anywhere, even Mexico, Death valley, and Johnson Valley. AT&T phones seem to never have any signal in remote areas.

But, as with most of these companies, after you start using for a while them rates go up.

I've heard people complain about AT&T, but I've been with them for 6 yrs and have never had any problems. I've also heard Verizon is more expensive, but I've never compared rates.

Pick your carrier based upon where you make most of your calls.

Price and phone selection mean nothing if you can't actually make any calls.

In my experience, both Verizon and ATT cover California pretty well, but Verizon probably has a better national footprint.

As for cost... both Verizon and ATT compete with one another, so price wise, they'll be very close. Yet.... if you go with one of the other big two (Sprint and T-Mobile), you'll get a huge cost savings because both have lack luster coverage and capacity.

And then there are the little guys.... The MVNOs. These guys ride the big guys networks and give you HUGE savings (e.g. 40/mo unlimited everything), but you have to be careful as you can't roam and there are some other gotchas. If you aren't worried about roaming and have the ability to weather the idiosyncracies of these little guys, it is a great way to save money. A listing of who rides who is here.

I use Verizon and am generally very happy with my service. We'll see how the iPhone destroys their network (ATT used to be better than Verizon, but the iPhone made quick work of fucking that up with too much network congestion).

I have heard since Verizon doesn't use SIM cards you can't use voice and data at the same time. You can on ATT.

I love Verizon.

castor07jk is correct in the fact that you can't use voice and data at the same time but that becomes a moot point if you don't get service in the first place. I have far less coverage problems than my friends on other networks.

After talking with people on FB and IOR, the general consensus is that Verizon is the way to go. :wings:
