Tons of great wheeling in CO. If I had to move, I think that would be the place. The Independence trail system is near Penrose, not too far from Co Springs. It's pretty hard core. The trail to near the top of Mt Blanca is pretty nice, and is in south central CO, would be a great weekend trip. There are a number of trails around Buena Vista, Chinamans is mild with some fun optional lines, Carnage Canyon is long and can be steep and is hardcore, with great views of fourteeners across the valley. Holy Cross is a great trail for an overnight run, and it's a little north of BV. There are plenty of cool sightseeing trails in the general Buena Vista area, can't remember the names of them all. From Taylor Reservoir in central CO there are more great trails, not hard but require 4x4, going north is Taylor Pass which hits 11,500', then going SW towards Crested Butte is Pearl Pass which hits 13,000' and is only open on dry years. We hit it lucky one year and got to run it.....pretty breathtaking. On the west side there are a few great trails in Grand Junction, 21 Road north of town and Billings Canyon (great trail) south of town. There is a complete trail system of hardcore trails just west of Montrose.
There are also many great sightseeing trails in the San Juans around Ouray and Silverton. I've been fortunate to run everything I've mentioned except the stuff in the San Juans, still on my list of things to do.
