Can I early vote for one of the summer month meetings... or at least float an idea.
How about a combined meeting on a Saturday in Oxnard in late August or sometime in September? My thought is that we could do a BBQ on the beach, have a big combined meeting, and welcome home our favorite Seabee. A bonus for you folks out in Bako, is a relief from the heat. It rarely makes it over 80 here during the summer. There is a spot by my house where we could park all the rigs on the sand, overlooking the Naval harbor on one side, public beach on another side, and the ocean bringing the two together! We could setup some BBQ pits, lay out the coolers full of beer, and go to town. Bonus is that if we time it right, the rocks on the Jetty are ripe for wheeling (old pic below).
What say you guys?

yea that sounds great brad .... for August
This is a test since we all try to request to change the meet &greet sometimes but as you can see some people would rather just keep it the same for location , food beer there and room for us..... If we do it at park we would maybe do a potluck and everyone bring there own drinks but we would have to plan it

Im down for where ever you guys want to have your meet ups...... Chewys is a good spot and it shows off your rides to the public and help other wanna get involved with what your club is into Chewys is a high profile location .. like ya said.. the beer and food is there which is a plus an everything there is good...It would be a good Idea if you guys had something to identify you as a IOR member ( CLUB t-shirt that only members have ,Club jacket .. ect. ) for us noobs that no one but Members wear.... I had no Idea who to talk to and who was members and who wasn't.members ....{ even though I'm pretty quiet anyways )

I don't know about the whole T-Shirt idea. I just feel as though IOR is not Catholic school. I've been a small part of this group for several years now and I still don't know a large number of people from it although I'm not complaining about it.

We have lots of shirts, and they are for sale at all of our M&Gs. Sometimes people wear them, sometimes they don't. Most of us (including myself) head over to Chuy's after work wearing whatever we wear to work. You really get to know fellow members and the culture of the group on runs, where some damn good friendships are formed. This is especially true on our camping trips.
I don't know how well a Saturday park M&G would work out, mainly because of the alcohol issue, parking or table availability. Also, a park makes it a daytime M&G and a lot of folks seem busy with work or personal commitments during the day. If it is a Saturday that I have off work, I would definitely go. But I agree, a change of location is good once in a while. Our Thursday night special M&Gs at 4Wheelparts and G&G were awesome, a great change of pace, and had excellent turnout.
What we want to avoid, is the confusion generated on this board in the past when everyone was trying to change our M&G location every month to houses, churches where we have to behave, obscure little places, out of the way locations, bars (where kids are not welcome), places with bad food, places with no alcohol, places that close early, places too small, places that are too pricey, places where cops write tickets, or places with no exposure. GJ and Larry had to step in several times and say "STOP IT, weez going to Chuy's!", which has none of the above issues.
Whatever you set up Becka, Ill try to make it

Chris brings up some very valid points. I do like the idea in august of a M&G on the coast with the oxnardians. Maybe it could be a semi annual thing.

BUT if you wanna move it to a house mine is open i have 3 section 8 across the street neighbors that are rude inconsiderate assholes that have no care for how loud or how late they party. yall are all welcome here whenever you want big fridge for lots of beer (unless you like guinness then its usually pretty well stocked) and a big smoker (aprox. 300 pounds of meat capacity) lol and my kids are always looking for somone new to play with

I'm up for another M&G at G&G, the last one was a good time for everyone. Don't know the best time, spring or fall, or summer with the most light, but I'm open. It was a nice change of pace for a Thurs night.
A Sat club picnic is also a nice idea, but harder to put together and harder to get a good turnout just because people have other things to do on a Sat.
One problem with changing a regular meeting time and place is that people get used to the schedule and newer people can show up without reading on the board that there was a change. Consistency over time does have an advantage.

This!!
I feel that it is VERY important for the same reasons.
But... that doesn't mean that we can't have other things go on. We can have "special" meetings... like the one we are thinking about with Becca's OP or the idea for late August (hey beotch, when you coming home?). Likely these extras won't bring many new faces, but it will give the more active members a chance to hang out as a group more often. And just like the "meetings," we'll have fun and nothing else!

The way work is working out for me, weekends are pretty much a no go, I've worked 10 days straight already, and idk what this weekend is looking like yet. So I'll be happy for the usual spot at chuys...
