Dodge advertisement

So, GJ's uncle (who does a little acting/modeling on the side) put me in contact with the producer for a Dodge advertisement that was looking for a highly modified new-generation Jeep. I emailed the producer a set of pics and he said "the silver JK with the black hood and huge tires is exactly what we are looking for". We did the shoot at the crack of dawn in Jawbone Canyon. They are developing advertising for the new RAM 2500 for use in the dealer brochures, the Dodge website, and possibly magazine. They shot for a full 12 hours with the truck in different positions and the actors doing different action poses. They even asked to use my boots during the shoot to give one of the actors a more "authentic look". My jeep never left the trailer, although the actors did repeatedly remove and reapply the straps for action shots. Thousands upon thousand of pics were take, with guys sweeping up footprints and tire tracks and cleaning the truck between shots. They even cleaned and waxed my Trailready Beadlocks!!!! It was an interesting experience but very boring and uneventful. It was hard to get used to being called the "prop guy" :lol3: . They found out that the Dodge truck would not fit motorcycles in the back, so they removed the tailgate to let the back wheel hang out, and shot from angles that would hide that fact.

And the craziest thing of all; these demo trucks get destroyed after the shoots (for liability reasons).

LOL @ Bubba Jeff (that'd work so much better if it were Jethro)

That's pretty damn cool you got to do that. Did they pay you for the use of it? Did they use your trailer also? I often wondered what happened to the cars in ads. That really sucks. You should have asked them for the hemi to do a swap with. I also like how they wanted your boots for the authentic look, yet they waxed your abused beadlocks.

Did you have to remove any stickers?
Or they going to photoshop any of them?

Yep, I had to remove almost all of them - even on my trailer. They let me keep the club logo on, but the art department will decide later if they want to leave it or photo-shop it out.

Travis: yep, it was a paid gig. They used my Jeep and Trailer as props and used my technical expertise to pose the action shots of the actors strapping the Jeep down. It sucks that they destroy the vehicles, but these demos are the first off the assembly line for the new model year and are often built to a lesser standard and lack some of the features that the full production models will have. They have a VIN that ends with "X" and can never be registered. The whole thing gets destroyed for liability reasons and no parts can be sold. I do this all the time for oil company equipment; people offer me tens of thousands of $ for parts of equipment, but I am under contract to destroy every bit of it. Destroying a million dollars worth of demo cars is better than spending ten million in litigation.

Well I hope you made enough to pay for your stickers... Even though I'm sure most of them were free except the zombies stickers.
