Ok, lets do this up proper. Post up your suggestions and why for the new Oxnard/Ventura M&G location.

Here are the specs of what we are looking for.

Good accessability and visibility
Good Alcohol selection
Good decent priced food
Plenty of parking
Large area for the group as it grows
Kid friendly

Once we get ideas listed I will make a poll for it.

Has all requirements but includes a slight drive.

Would not be popular IMO. Most folks run over to the M&Gs after work. Most would not show if they had to drive a distance out of town.

The Bakersfield M&Gs get between 30-80 people from all over Kern County. The Oxnard crew gets 3-6 people at their M&Gs, and half of them complain when the location is more than 15 minutes from their house :stirPot:

HAHA, yeah those Ox's Nards are always complaining...
Seriously, Toppers was a great spot...

Has anyone thought of:

Buffalo Wild Wings (not the best parking lot = busy, but it works)...
Yolanda's at Channel Islands (usually easy parking)...
Andrea's or one of the restaurants @ the harbor

If money is an issue might as well have it at Mc D's or In N Out... HA, all of those always have great visibility!

That actually isn't a bad idea. The biggest car club turnout in Kern County is a classic club that meets at a Sonic.

The only bad part is no cover in the rain, and NO ALCOHOL (which would completely detour the Bakersfield chapter) :drunkbuds:

You guys have to have a big chain restaurant with a big parking lot and exposure somewhere? Claim Jumpers, Outback, El Torrito, BJs, Pizza Hut, Chilis, TGIF, Applebees, Roadhouse?

Don't worry about the food, people will complain that they don't like it no matter what you choose. Probably 25% of the Bakersfield crew hates the food at Chuy's - so you will never make everyone happy about that and will pass over some great locations if you try. Our M&Gs really don't center around food anyway. Just choose a place that serves beer and mixed drinks, has food available, allows kids, and has a parking lot big enough to park all of your vehicles in a line. Having an outdoor covered patio that faces the parking lot is also a great asset, Everyone in Bako hangs out on the patio and ventures out to the rigs to check out everyone's mods. Its not really about what the wife and kids like, its about getting more off-roaders to attend.

I agree with MFDD. We need to focus more on a big parking lot and drinks. We will not be able to get all of our things in our wish list and I think the big one that we are going to have a problem with is a place with a large amount of street exposure. Ventura, Oxnard and Camarillo just don't have the layout that supports that. The places that do have tiny parking lots which is a huge problem once more people start showing up. Also some of the places that have street exposure are small chains like In-n-out and the like. While I like those places I don't believe they will serve our purposes as we grow. Freeway exposure is not really all that good as most people wont bother stopping or by the time they have seen us they have already passed the exit further decreasing the likely hood of them stopping.

Here are some suggestions, a few are mine and others are Brads from another form:

-Cronies
+ Pros
Large lit parking lot
Drinks & Food w/reasonable prices
Area for a group to gather
- Cons
Off the beaten path, no exposure from the street

-In and Out (Camarillo).
+ Pros
Visibility from one side of the 101 freeway
Good food reasonable prices
Out door seating
-Cons
No alcohol
Small parking lot that can become very busy
As group grows space could become an issue

Soup Plantation Camarillo (freeway).
+ Pros
I think they serve beer (correct me if i'm wrong)
This one has visibility from both sides of the 101 freeway
Large parking lot
- Cons
(looking at google maps) not sure how good the visibility is from freeway
Only major visibility is from freeway (low likely hood that someone will pull off if they see us)

-Coco's in Camarillo
+ Pros
I think they serve beer (correct me if i'm wrong)
- Cons
No view from freeway as parking is in rear and the sides are blocked by trees/bushes, also offramp has started before we could be seen, which makes it even more unlikely that someone will stop.

Wood Ranch in VTA (mall)
+ Pros
Excellent visability from main street and mall parking
Large lot behind
Great food
Alcohol
- Cons
Expensive
Parking along street is very limited

Toppers on Main st
+ Pros
Good food & alcohol at a fair price
Excellent visibility
Meeting area that can be reserved for free
-Cons
Very very limited parking

BJ's Brewhouse
+ Pros
Exposure along a busy roadway Oxnard Blvd & business center
Large parking lot
Good food & alcohol
Meeting area (I think)
Outdoorish seating facing parking lot
-Cons
Expensive
Noisy
Limited parking along street
They only take reservations for parties of 10+

Ok, guys your turn. What are your thoughts on the mentioned places or suggestions of your own.

I still think we should make a comercial and put it on youtube, once we figure out where the M&G will be, talk to the manager and see if we can shoot a part of the comercial there, I am sure they will like the free advertisement, and getting more people at their establishment means more $$$ for them.

Thats a great idea!!! We can currently do it at Chuys in Bako. Once we settle on a place out here I think it would be cool to do as well.

New addition to the ideas....

Sea Fresh - Channel Islands Harbor
Menu $8.00-$20.00 a plate

+ Pros
Counter ordering like Chuys (no 18% gratuity for large partys)
Indoor and large outdoor seating
May be able to park right next to the patio on the dock (I am talking to the Owner about it, will know for sure soon)
Full bar
Good happy hour deals till closing

- Cons
Parking lot far away if we cant park on dock
Off of main roads, no street exposure
Indoor seating is smallish

Come on lets get some other ideas out there.
