Rear ZJ Bumper Design

Postby t_long927 » January 7th, 2011, 6:32 am

Ok heres the deal. I got a rear XJ bumper for free from a buddy that rolled his XJ. It is a little long so I am Going to cut it down and re-weld the ends. I have to some how graft on some pieces on the sides to go up a bit. anyone have any ideas or who is willing to help out??? Let me know. This is going to be just a simple rear bumper that I can hopefully get a Spare Tire arm on.

I say build your own. Make it orignal. Make it strong.
You can find steel any where, well I can working in the oil patch.
Just collect some up and when you are ready I'll supply the welding rod, and if you need help getting the steel let me know, and I sure Josh (with the sammy) will weld it up for you, if you bribe him with beer he can't say no.
We can do front and back bumpers in a day.

Cool... I dont think the rear is going to be hard. I think the front is going to be a bitch. I just want to make sure I can get pulled out of something i shouldn't have been in... Like a giant ass mud hole...

What I did on the front is cut and drill some plate to fit the oem mount holes and then tacked the square tubing on them unbolted and welded it out. Then started cuting and grinding the shape I wanted. I still need to find some eyes for my shackle mounts though.

I will have to look at mine more carfully. I think the Zj Bumper is all welded. Things have to be moved like the evap cannister and such.
