E-Lockers in the 08 Rubicon..
Went out last night to Freeway Ridge and for the most of the trip the rear locker worked, went over the waterfall and and about five min after my rear locker started to flash.. front locker still engaged but the rear just flashed and was for sure not locked in.. It started to work just after the can opener and i kept engaged for the rest of the trip just to see if it would act up again and it was ok.

Sway bar...
Couldnt get the E-sway bar release to work.. disconnected it manually and the sway bar light flashed the entire run..

ANY HELP WOULD BE GREAT.

i know what everyone will say (E-locker) but thats what i have for now and dont want to change out

2 more reasons to not fork over the extra cash for the Rubi if you want to build it big.

1) The rubi e-lockers are very failure prone. A couple of JKO guys that work at dealerships told me that their shop always has rubis in it with locker problems. I know I can't even count how many I have seen go out on the trail. Jeep also made the diff differently on Rubicons so you were forced to use their proprietary locker, but now ARB (and Detroit I think) make lockers for Rubi axles and lots of people are making the switch. Its usually electrical issues and not a broken locker, so its probably not too expensive. And finally, Rubi rear axles suck because the shafts are unequal lengths so you have to carry 2 trail spares rather than one with the X/Sport rear axle. It will eventually end up at the dealership for this problem and they will blame it on something totally unrelated.

2) The Rubi sway bar was a good idea that was poorly engineered by Chrysler. The majority of people who wheel often end up ripping it off or getting quick-disco links. They fail often, and severely limit flex in the front even when they do work. I know Casaintfan, Abendx, and many others in this club ripped them out shortly after getting their Rubis.

I can see why its a problem already. Im trying to see if anyone else has had the issue and was able to get it fixed without going to the dealer. I have someone lookig into the ARB as an option but would like to get some use out of the E-lockers before i have to change them out.. Im sure its an electric issue, just wanting to know where to start out..

Sell your stock axles to me for my jk and upgrade!

I thought that the e lockers were interchangeable from front.to,rear and that they were different part numbers and the front was actually stronger, maybe one of the jk guys can confirm

I believe this is only true for the pre-97 Rubicons. TJ/LJ Rubicons had low pinion 44s F&R. The JKs have a high pinion 44 in the front and low pinion 44 in the rear.

That's correct... The 07 and up are not the same as the older models. I also looked into the ARB option and they don't make a locker that will fit the JK 44 e-locker.

I thought ARB made lockers for the Rubicon that use 35 spline shafts?

If I'm not mistaken (I've only made one) the Rubicon package didn't come out til 2003 & their lockers were actually a air locker with a small compressor mounted under the vehicle. (At least my 05' LJ Rubicon was)

Yep, lots of people on JKO are running ARBs in their Rubicons. They have been available for a while now. http://store.arbusa.com/ARB-AIR-LOCKER- ... 061C7.aspx

Also correct that pre-07 rubis used an air locker (which had many issues), then went to a chinese made e-locker on the JKs.

The pre-07 rubi air lockers could be interchanged front to rear and the front locker was actually stronger than the rear, so lots of rubi owners were buying factory front lockers to install in the rear of their Rubis. I don't believe this is possible with the JK Rubicons.

FYI, a Detroit locker for the JK Rubicon is due to be released next month. This is probably worth waiting for if you are serious about a change.
