sure, anyone is welcome to come by and hang out. I may be working a bit on sat morning(day job), then going to land use rally after that. Sat afternoon-sunday evening will be in the garage attempting to finish it up.

still trying to make the tinbenders Jambo at the hammers on the 28th of this month... its a stretch but might make it lol

sorry no pics this time. did some more gusseting tonight on the panhard bar mounts. also installed the bump stops. did more measuring for the front shocks, decided to change them to 16" travel's should be in tomorrow. the upper shock mounts will be at the same height as the upper radiator braces. with that much height I will run a cross brace in the engine.

other recent dilemna is the brake master and brake booster. because i am running a matched set of 1999 ford axles i figured the best idea would be to run the master from the same vehicle. got the master cylinder and found out it is way too big to fit on the stock booster, the stock master is a 1/8" and the ford is a 1 3/8" diameter. well when it wouldnt fit the booster i ordered a booster from the same ford, then came across a big hold up.

the stock booster diameter is 8 3/4", the ford booster is 12" diameter. there is no room for the ford booster, plan is to hit the jy and pull a bunch of different master cylinders and find a smaller booster that will fit with the ford unit.

if anyone knows of a 9" or smaller diameter brake booster that fits a 1 3/8" master cylinder let me know.

Either an astro van or a 1 ton chevy will have them. I got mine from an astro van. I'm not going to say it's a direct bolt on, but with some creative fab work it will fit much better than vacuum boost. It will make the MC stick farther out though.

got the 99 f250 master cyliner to fit. it was tight, had to "dimple" the hood to make room for the resevoir.

also started making the upper shock mounts and have them made to 5.5" uptravel.

The upper shock mounts for the front are in and the gussets are in. I had ran out of room for a shock tower crossover tube so ran the gussets instead, may end up tying in the upper shock mounts with the tube fenders and then tying in the grill hoop with the fenders undecided on that just yet though

nearly there, need to finish the brake lines/bleeding, pull the front axle add a couple welds to the coil buckets, clean/paint everything, put it all back together, charge shocks.

then get extend front driveline, shorten rear driveline, charge shocks. then test drive.

Will be having the gears done by 4wp, I am running short on time and want to do some test running next weekend before the calico run so have an appt to get them installed.

If everything goes right will be driving it to 4wp next week.

Still considering the charge on the shocks, the shocks came with a pre charge of 200psi(fox remote resevoir emulsion shocks), trying to dig up info on whether to run the standard 200psi or change it up a bit for coils in front and leafs in front.

test drove it tonight, have a small leak on brakes, need to move one cutting brake cable, need to move rearend back .5-1" for better driveline angle and maybe lower tcase a bit to help.

It drives good, very stable on corners even without a sway bar. it has a bit of a wander around 40mph, need to check alignment, may also be just me not used to hydro assist, not sure yet.

bottom line, im very excited and happy that it turned out like it has, 4 months without it seeing daylight and nothing fell apart on the test drive.

I need to get a couple bolts and yoke straps for the front dshaft then i can flex it out and make sure everything on the suspension clears like it did when static in the garage.

so i kept hearing a pssshhh sound when coming to a stop, almost sounded like a hydraulic line when loose and they leak, or like a nitrous purge valve releasing pressure...

well i realized tonight, uh duh, thats the plastic airsoft bb's in my tires falling against the rim....

:lol3:

anyways drove it to work today, did good, still getting used to the touchy hyd assist steering may look into changing the fitting size to orifice it a bit so its less touchy at speed.

:wings:

that last shot, the shocks were 1" from fully compressed on front left and right rear, no binding, no clearance issues. the coil spring on pass side, unseated and drooped about 3".

need to check the other side after work, that was done at lunch time.

oh and the plastic bb's are for balancing and work great, no vibes at all while driving.

found a couple things to change in Calico, the trackbar even with the bend still hits/bent from impact, the cutting brakes need a different lever/pivot, and need to build a skidplate that doesnt hit the driveshaft. other than that everything is working well for now.

and here is a real flex shot...
