Someone who can weld needed.

Postby VICTORG93307 » May 23rd, 2011, 10:07 am

Got the death wobble at calico. Turned out one of my trackbar holes is ovaled out. Brad came up with the idea of welding a steel plate on both ends then drilling new holes on the new plates. I got brew!

Dont use plate get some grade 8 washers. Grade 8 washers will be a lot stronger than plate found that out on the race track the hard way. Its not frun to have your front leaf mount break.

I can weld it if you need, or I also have a full traction trac bar mount that would bolt in and give you a new bolt hole, would raise that end about an 1 1/2" (assuming its the lower mount attached on the axel) Let me know your welcome to either.

Vicki.

You still want to fortify the new bracket, if that is the way you go. You can use washers like Pete said, but I feel that 1/4" plate, cut into small squares about 1.5", should do the trick. Drill the squares out prior to mounting, Use the bolt, to size the hole. You want as little play as possible (on mine, we had to tap it in with a hammer). Do all four holes.

Check all your bushings, suspension and steering components to insure they are all tight and look at the guide I posted a link to in the chat area.

Plate the mount yes but the plate isnt as strong as the washers. I used washers on both ends no problems. Most 1/4 plate is mild steel the same thing that got wallowed out in the first place and if you want to used hardened steel your gonna need a bad ass drill bit and a press.

Richard made a kick ass one for the rear that's the one that got ripped off. The front one bent and he reinforced it really well. Now its the front upper. Chrysler effed up on these brackets people are having issues with them in stock shape.

Ya they did every JK and dodge owner is having these issues. Talked to a guy who has a dodge 3/4t and he is having the same issues you would think a 3/4t truck would have bigger brackets nope same size.

Victor, I don't think I have any.1/4 ", I know I still have some 3/16 plate depending on what your wanting to do. If you want 1/4 " the easiest would probably be b&b on rosedale hwy.
Other wise just show up at 5:00,
