it is a nice jeep,, but you'll like it much better if you invest in a locker (or 2) and sliders before cosmetics

I'll build my own bumpers and sliders Very soon!!! It'll def have armor before it hits the trail!!! Think I wanna wheel without a locker a lil but before I install one. But it's def in the future plans along with a winch. I just wanna get the basics for now so I can start playing!!!

Bought some of the steel for the rear bumper and sliders today. This should get me started. Bought the 1/8" plate to extend the sliders to the frame or the body mounts. If I decide to go that route. Did 1/4" thick 3"x5" tubing for the rear bumper. And 1/4" thick 3"x5" angle for the sliders. still need to buy either square or round tubing to come off the sliders 4" for a guard/step.

If I don't use the plate for the sliders then I'll use it to make flat fenders.

I disagree. I've got them on the jk and they cup very quickly

I've had my km2s for two years now and have no problems
maybe cause those tires you have on jk were Matt's beat up ones ....Matt ran those for 3 to 4 years ..

Even the new one shows it's starting to cup. They work fine, but any tire with big tread blocks like that and large voids are going to be prone to cupping.

I like em on my Chevy. I think the key to the KM2's is rotating them often. I rotate every oil change.

If you can do that, you probably won't have any issues. I have 35" pro comp xtreme at's on my truck and get 10k before they need rotated, but that's an a/t too. I'm just spoiled.
I had iroks on an old truck and got 10 blocks before they needed rotated.

Started on the Sliders today!! I can't weld very good and dad has done it all his life so i leave that part to him. They were actually pretty simple to build. I believe it's 3"x5" 1/4" thick angle iron. Then I used 1" pipe. Thanks to AJ for letting me use his pipe bender. It worked great!!! Ok on with the pics.
Everything is cut drilled and bent.

He use the wire feed first.

But wasn't happy so he broke out the stick.

Welded up. And u can see the notch we had to make in the front to get around part of the body.

Well there they are. Not complete but close. Just gotta add a 30" piece of 1/8" diamond plate across it and a couple braces in the there. Then paint and mount!!

Did you put a backing plate inside the tub?

Everything I did is what's in the pics. No hidden braces. The tube is schedule 40, 1" pipe.

I didn't cut a 3" x 5/8 slit in the pipe and weld the plate inside if that's what ur asking. I just cut the plate and slide it between the angle iron and tube. Then welded it up.

I was wondering if you put a plate on the inside of the jeep tub to help distribute forces from rocks and the like. With no plate I would think the nuts would have an easier time of pulling through the sheet metal.
Just my thoughts. I'm no expert and am by no means a professional fabricator.
