Looking for help on my lift purchase on my 2013 JK in the future.

I have been looking and researching 3 - 4inch lift kits and I need some advice. I will be throwing 33-35's on the jeep eventually and I see on forums and such that a 4 inch lift is near what I need, but I am looking for the real world experts opinions on lift size and the options that are out there that would do well with 33-35 inch tires.

Any help would be appreciated as I don't want to make a beginner mistake if possible.

33-35 inch tires on a JK..... you need zero to 2.5" of lift.

If I were you, I'd get a budget boost for around 300. I had the TF kit and it seemed to work well and I had no issues. You could get awy with no lift and those tire sizes if you go to flat fenders and trim a little out of the pinch seam.

If you go any higher... you'll look funny. Most guys on JKO run 3.5-4 inches for 37s.

Like Brad said you can get away with a cheap/ small lift and 35 no issues. Im running the RE budget 3.5 its been a great lift. Does everything Ive needed it to do.

Okay perfect this is why I asked so I didn't make a big mistake like that so it sounds like I will want a 2.5 inch lift.

Now from my understanding a budget boost are just spacers essentially correct? instead of larger coil springs?

The install does not look to bad however I don't want to worry about not having the right tools what does a shop charge to install something like this as it looks easy enough as I have been inside under behind and around vehicles with engines my entire life but I don't have exactly what I need to do this install.

Any recommendations on shops or other advice regarding this?

bring an "18 pack of MGD" and $100.
put the beer in the fridge, lift the jeep, offer the owners
the cash for letting us use the shop & tools.

Thanks man that is defiantly do-able and I love being under my vehicles so I don't mind doing the work with someone who knows how to do this. I will let you know as I should be able to do this a lot sooner with how cheap the lift is as I was expecting to invest $800-$1000 in the lift alone so now this gives me room to wiggle. Plus for wheels I think I am just going to get BFG Off-road tires or any other recommended tires as again I don't want to make a new guy mistake so recommendations are defiantly welcome, and throw them on the stock rims with a 1 inch spacer. Do they have the machine to change tires there also?

If you keep the stock wheels you should use 1 1/2" spacers. Make sure they are quality hub-centric like Spidertrax. If youre going to wheel it gusset your C's.

i had good luck with the km2s when i ran them
and my bro is still running them.

as far as mounting the tires>> once we get the jeep
on the lift, one of us can drop off the tires and rims
at the tire shop on the corner.
finish the lift and pick up the tires.

we need to take a few pics in front of the shop before and after.
they may use the pics on they're web site.
this is a full automotive & machine shop, they specialize in squeezing
large motors into small cars (cal legal) but they love to mess with unique
stuff. they've worked on antique cars, boats, tractors, and plains,
on down to modifying wind turbine parts.
they're moto is : "make it yourself" ,,,oh and,, hand me another beer

Okay next question. Where do I buy my tires and rims I know the places in Bakersfield that sell them but where do I get my bang for my buck on this? I'll probably just get new wheels, tires, and the lift setup new just to do it right.

Suggestions? I know 4wheels parts in town they seem like stand up guys but I go where I can get my dollars worth\ so if they are my best bet then I'll go that route otherwise I'm all ears in this case eyes looking at what you respond.

Might as well through a new cat back exhaust on it while we are at it. Recommendations on that front?

It's been a long time since I have bought tires from 4wp... but next time, I will. Their warranty is pretty damn good!

And don't waste cash on an exhaust.... too vulnerable to rocks. I suggest a glasspack next to the evap. A little loud, but not horrible.

I am not familiar with a glasspack what is this and what is its use or benefit?

I see that the BFG KM2's for the 15 inch rim is only 259.99 each approx and the BFG KM2's for the 17 inch wheels are 369.99approx.

Since I am getting wheels either was should I just get the 15 inch rims with 35" tires and save 500 alone on the tires? Or what is the benefit to the 17 inch rims over the 15 inch or is there any as in my mind 15 inch wheels with the 35" tires is going to be the same exact height yes creates more air space between the wheel and and tire center so wouldn't this be good?

If anyone can expand on this that would be great as I most likely am just speaking non-sense.

go 15 inch..... and once you go in store they should be cheaper since were infectious offroad... i would go see frank or renee and get a quote of rims & tires... I believe most of us run 15s

i got my 33s km2 without rims.... for a set of 4 with warranty for about 830 out the door

Its a little bit of both on a JK. At idle its just a little bit louder than stock. The benifit of doing a glass pack like Brad said is its cheap. For under $40 you get a bomb proof exhast. Check out [url]http://www.cherrybomb.com[/url].

Glasspack.... as Pete said... cheap. But the biggest benefit is the size. You'll open up possibilities for yourself to get it out of the way.

Rims.... go with 17s or do some serious research on the 15s.... some 15s will not work with the JKs brakes, others will require caliper modification.

do it with back spacing> you said you're looking at getting new wheels



(i don't know shit about jeeps) but listen to what these experienced
jeep guys are telling you. they can save you precious time and MONEY
(and embarrassing, unnecessary BLING)

15" rims on jk are doable but not worth the tradeoffs

Spacers or shallow backspacing increases strain on balljoints and increases sterring effort.

Id suggest sticking with 17" rims for a jk
