Working on Erik's XJ mounting the sliders figured I'd do my easy project and mount my Hi-Lift jack at the same time. Surprisingly we finished both projects.

Why do people mount them to the hood? Never understood that. Why not on the back bumper? Doesn't it impede vision?
Pics of sliders?

It was the only place that I could mount it and it look good.
I thought it would, but after I sat in the jeep I it doesn't mess with visual at all.
Not to many pictures but look in the thread right under this.

Doesn't really kill the vision at all, as long as you sit tall enough in the seat. Short people might have a problem. For people that wheel in the rocks frequently, hi-lifts don't last very long when on the front or rear bumpers. Several club members have bent / broke theirs on the trail. I bend one up like a pretzel when it was mounted to the front of my XJ.
The only real negative to the hood mounts is that you are limited to a small hi-lift. The big 60" jacks stick out the sides too much and get caught on trees / rocks. Most jeeps with 37"+ tires can't even use the small hi-lift (a 60" high lift wont lift a tire off the ground on my jeep, I have to chain the axle to the frame)

Sorry I haven't gotten some pictures up I'll do that ASAP. Need to download them to the computer still. I've rode in his jeep since then and I had no problem seeing past it.

Here they are, I mounted them but since I bolted them on I'll be taking them off later on and cutting the edges down and capping the ends off. Other then that I think they look great ha. They seem to have helped in stiffening the unibody a bit as well!
