This coming up weekend I've decided to try to build some custom rocker guards for The Angry Blueberry. This is what I have designed and am going to try to make.

I plan on using 3/16" steel with grade 8 hardware.

Looks like the pics came out sideways, just click the pic and it should show it normal. :dontknow:

I like the concept you are going with are the side step area going to be all box?

Yes, I plan to box it all in.

On a side note it looks like I will be using 3/8" steel. That is the only option on line for the angle iron size I'm looking at.

thats gonna be some heavy sliders you look into the option of just welding plate into the angle you need so you can increase your thickness options? or even take the thinner angle and plate and jut butt weld it to the end to make the side longer?

Well, until I go to get the metal I really don't know what I'm going to use, thickness wise. Right now its just what I've managed to find on the website. I think that I should be more than covered with 1/8" if I can find it.

Well, I didn't get to start on my sliders this weekend. The metal supply company that I went to is closed on the weekends and the other store didn't have the steel that I needed. So instead this weekend I pulled the fuel tank skid plate and replaced it with a Rubicon skid plate. The Rubicon plate is way beefier than the stock one, also while the tank was out I tightened up a few loose nuts and bolts and found a few missing bolts. I also broke a couple bolts putting the tank back in :suprise: . So if anybody has an extra fuel tank strap for a 97+ wrangler that would be much appreciated.

This is the bottom of the stock fuel tank skid plate.

This thing was 1" from my nose When I saw him. He owes me a new pair of underpants. :freakout: :hitfan:

He couldn't pay me in underpants so I took care of him the old fashioned way

Finished getting the tank into the skid plate. It was harder than it looked because I didn't take the time to hammer out some dents in the new skid plate. So when I finally bolted it back to the frame and was tightening the tank straps, one side broke off at the bolt.

Ok, I got some work done on the Blueberry sliders this weekend.

Mocking up the angle iron

Adding 6" tall plate

Adding a crappy tach weld because the welder cant handle the thicker metals.

Making some crappy cuts to the 6" plate that go on the underside of the rockers.

Using the first plate for a template for the driver side rocker.

Went to Chris's house on Saturday to do some welding with a much more capable welder.

Oh yeah, on a side note, I decided to not do the plating under the jeep. My concerns are that there isn't a whole lot of places to bolt them to on the bottom side. Also I would not be able to reach the bolts for the bottom side portion under the jeep. So for now they will just be the angle Iron portion, 2" under the jeep.

Your's should be fine.

I have some 3x5x.250 angle iron on my rock crawler back east. Also have a 1.75 DOM tube for the step welded on the side. 6 bolts to the side of the body and 3 underneath through the floor. Laid the entire weight of the Jeep on it hard a few times. Didn't hurt the body though. Bent the tube a little but that's about it.

So its been awhile since the Blueberry has had anything done to it.

So I decided that it is time for the DIY bed-liner kit. I went ahead and purchased a liner called Raptor Liner. I chose this kit because I heard good things online about it, and also I didn't want the Herculiner because of the natural rubber chunks in it. My dad did the roll on liner with Herculiner and it turned out good, but it you wear flipflops and shorts you better be ready to bleed. The grip is harsh to skin.

So the Raptor liner that I ordered is a true spray in liner. The kit I ordered comes with enough material to do 2 coats in an 8' bed, which should be plenty to do the inside of the tub of the Blueberry. The kit that I ordered also came with the spray gun, (everyone online said that if you get the kit, get the kit with the gun).

The kit should be here next week and I should be ready to spray by next weekend. :Thumb: :kungfu:

Here is a pic of some of the interior removal. I don't think this thing has been cleaned out since 97.
