Breckenridge road

Postby smack2020 » December 29th, 2010, 3:26 pm

Does anyone know if Breckenridge Road is open. We are going to try to go to the snow on Saturday.

It normally is because people need access to their houses and there is a radio tower at the top. I don't remember seeing a gate.

There's a snow gate above the cabins that will be closed, but that's quite a ways up the mountain. Plenty of snow below the gate and it's always open up to the gate.

Just heard a report on the radio that a guy in a 4x4 and the tow truck that went to get him got stranded up there overnight. Search and Rescue went up Breckenridge in the morning and got them out. Always snow wheel in a group.

Remember that movie, Without a Paddle? Those two guys were up in the mountians and they were freezing so they cuddled up naked together.... Better think twice who you're going wheeling with in the snow...
