I don't know how much more the 5200lb axles are, but they are real nice to have. It's kind of sad how small the wheel bearings are on 3500' axles, when you compare the size to a normal car or truck wheel bearing. Shows why regular bearing greasing is such an important thing on trailers. Also, you get bigger tires on the 5200' axles. I've thought of swapping to them. If you price replacement axles, there's not much different in price between the two, don't know how much more the trailer builders get for them.

Just checked, for a loaded axle assembly, including brakes, hubs and springs, it's $150 difference per axle from 3500 to 5200.

Also ordered a set of MAC straps. The ones with the built in axle straps. They seem to get high ratings on PBB. Will I need anything else (other than the trailer and drawbar)???
I am running MAC straps too, have been for a year and a half. They make rigging a snap. I can have my jeep on the trailer and tied down in 5 minutes by myself. I have the straps with the axle loops on one end and the chain with hook on the other. Im seriously considering having tabs welded onto my axle tubes to make rigging even easier.
Coolio! I should get them today I think. I awas thinking about adding some tie down points, but the rub rail looks like it will solve that issue perfectly. There are plenty of 'stop' in it for the stake pockets and other supports, i think they will make perfect tie down points.

Not much huh!

Well.... the trailer came home with me last night.... damn that thing is massive. I guess it really isn't wider than others, but every time I looked in the mirror, I could see the extended sides and it makes the trailer feel much wider. The truck pulled the empty trailer wonderfully. Hope it is as nice loaded with the rig.

It is way wide... wider than the truck by maybe a foot? And 18' long. 16 in this trailer is a special order.

Much better way than I looked at it.... I was thinking, wide ass trailer, drive over fenders, and a jeep that will easily fit in between.... might have to go full width!

8.5' is the widest trailer allowed, that's what mine is and most are.

Yep, mines 8.5' too. Because of my front 60, I have to crawl over the fenders if my tires are aired down. I can barely squeeze between the fenders with the tires aired up all the way.
