I'll be there tonight to take my tech exam. Thanks to redneck for the pointers in a couple of areas that I was concerned about.

I was curious what channels/ frequencies you guys plan to use as well. I have a TYT-9000 in my truck and would like to listen to you guys if I was out and about. I have a few programmed we use while out hunting. We regularly talk from the Piutes or Greenhorn mountians back to Bakersfield.

Ham's use national simplex to find each other on simplex (no repeater). Each band has a different "National Simplex" frequency. For 2 meters, it is 146.520. The general practice is that you identify on national simplex, and then go up a few Khz from there to "chew the rag" or talk.

For example... if someone says "Meet me on 57 simplex", they are talking about 146.570.

well there has been talk of using MURs channel 2 but nothing has been set in stone. If you are a licensed operator then just use the national simplex frequencies.

here is the MURs info
2 151.880 MHz 11.25 kHz

Handheld should be feasible for cheap under fifty I think. A convenient is a predominant option since you'll inspire the chance to use an incomprehensibly improved radio wire. The power is also progressively essential, yet in our application, not as basic as a better than average radio wire with an OK ground plane. A versatile is furthermore less requesting to use.

I would prescribe for others to get the NMOKHFCXTH versus the mount on this percent. This bundle includes the usual variant of the mount which is decent for a sheet metallic rooftop, be that as it is going to within the event that you want to accomplice it to anything drastically thicker than about 16g, with out flaw favorable success. This one I referenced will without problems present you more selections, out to half of thick.
