so i have been having

Postby AJ99 » March 10th, 2010, 12:49 am

someone come and mess with my jeep. Loosened all my lug nuts, track bar, control arms, tie rod ends, and steering stabilizer. Found that out on the freeway the other day. Tightened all of it up and thought i caught what all they did. Evidently i missed something. Tonight i made a right hand turn onto akers from mckee and my steering go stuck. I had to yank it the other way. needless to say i lost control of the jeep and here is the after math

Are you ok?!!!!
That's the important thing.
File a police report on what you know happened.
That has to be a serious crime.
Hope you're ok.

Man, thats a lot of damage for a low-speed roll (right turn on a side street)! I have seen XJs that have done multiple rolls down hillsides with less damage than that! Kind of makes me think harder about roll protection.

Glad you are OK, from those pictures it could have been much worse. Is the vehicle a total loss? Can you tranfer parts to your other XJ?

EDIT: I just noticed that in both of those pictures the passenger side front wheel is sitting at a much different angle that the driver's side. Did your tie rod come loose? If so, that would be some scary sh!t trying to make a sharp right turn with only one wheel steering.

the spring came out in the roll. I havent decided what i am going to do with it yet. The jeep is a total loss. I may strip it of lift and everything and store all that for a later time when i can get another xj. or i may part it out. still debating on it. Im fine as far as body wise. Just sore especially my left sholder.

lol. ya i thought about that too. The inner fender on the driver side is pushed in pretty far. its all leaning to the passenger side the entire jeep.

Major bummer AJ, but glad you're OK.

I rolled mine once and caved in the roof, and put a whole new roof on it. But, insurance paid for it, I don't have the skills to do that kind of body work. It's a shame since you have so much time into working on that one.

ya well when i get the parts im going to see if the windshield will fit in. If not i have a windshield section from another jeep that i cut out today and will have a friend of a friend weld it in place for me and cut the rest of the top off and cage it.

UPDATE:

Got a new front clip on today. Took my old hood off because its bent to hell. Drove it and started to feel something in the steering and my track bar mounts welds are partially broke. So gotta fix that. Besides that it drives great. Tried getting a windshield today and couldnt get it out. Basically after i fix the Track bar mount and put the new hood on and get a windshield and a cage at least on the front seats i am good to go!!! :drinks:
