Just want to say hello.

Postby Mike481 » March 14th, 2008, 12:32 pm

I just wanted to say hello to everyone and see if there is any room left for new jeepers around here. My wife and I have been in Bako for a couple years now but we still don't really know people to go wheeling with. I saw the clean-up run scheduled for this Saturday but I have to work that day. I would be willing to try almost anything (the wife however, takes some convincing) within reason of course. I'll be checking back here often for upcoming runs so hopefully I can get out and ride before the temperature gets in the triple digits.

Hi Mike, welcome to our site. there is always room for more wheelers. just keep checking the forum for upcoming runs. what kind of wheeling are you into? Do you like rock crawling, sand dunes or just trails. what kind of rig do you have and how is it setup?

My wife likes trails more than anything else but she does not like heights. I like the trails but I like rock crawling as well. As far as the jeep goes here's the specs:

2000 TJ
4.0 5-speed
3.5"RE lift with 1" BL
Jeep medic engine skid
Shrock works sliders
steering and gas skids
Currie anti-rock and HD steering
Warn XD9000i
Home built front bumper, rear bumper, and tire carrier
Almost complete on-board air
Other junk I spent to much time making

I'll be watching for any future runs and hope to meet everybody soon.

Mike

Are you running lockers? Do you care about body damage? What size tires? just trying to get an idea of what trails you can run with us. Where did you live before you moved here? What trails have you done that you could recommend? we do trails that range from easy to hardcore, but love the hardcore.

I guess I did leave out a few things.

Poison spyder rollcage
BFG 32" MT
Dana 30 w/ a lunchbox locker (detroit EZ locker) and a dana 44 in the rear

As far as body damage is concerned, I haven't gotten any crusher corners yet so I guess I could use an excuse like "body damage concealer" to get some in the future. I would like to try out some tougher trails but if the wife comes along on a ride I will have to start her out on easier stuff. Other than basic trails I have only been to last chance canyon and rowher flats.

My wife and I moved here from Indianapolis, Indiana. That being said, my 4x4 experience is mostly snow and mud. Both of which I am not eager to return to.

Hope that helps
Mike

Sounds like you have a nice and capable rig. to bad you dont like mud and snow, we like snow runs. I have spent alot of time in the mid west and dont know why you would move here. You will have fun wheeling with us, we go as often as we can. we do alot of local trails as well as out of town. We are also going to the RUBICON again this year, we had a hell of a good time last year.

Hi Mike,
My wife is the same, likes to sight see and ride the trails. But lately I've taken her up Black Gulch and a couple of weekends ago up Freeway Ridge. She loved it and in fact she gave me the ok to get the lift and bigger tires NOW instead of a year down the road. There is one thing she won't go for and that is looking out her window off a cliff or big drop off. I tell her all the time, keep your eyes closed, you ain't going to like this.
